Racists are evil

I have no idea why some IDIOTS consider a white skin superior to
a black or olive skin colour? I suspect Jesus would have
experienced racism today due to his olive skin colour if he was
around in person in this day and age! :o
I was horrified when I saw this news item earlier about the
terrible racial abuse a black woman soldier experienced! >:(

Bigot slike that don't think.
Jesus would also have faced prejudice for being a Jew, plenty do
now all over the world including in this country. It's there,
under the surface, even in polite circles.

I agree with you Lyn. I suspect Jesus would not have approved of
the way Netanyahu is handling the war between Israel and Hamas,
many Jews don't think their PM is handling it well either.
Although Netanyahu is a Jew he is not religious. He has had
three marriages and many extra marriage affairs!

Just a correction to that statement. It should be "...many
Israelis don't think their PM is handling it well either".
Outside Israel there are around 10 million Jews worldwide living
in different countries with different governments. Moreover, 20%
of the Israeli population are Arabs (that's around 2 million),
including the Druze in northern Israel (the children killed in
the Hizbollah attack the other day were Druze), many of whom
probably don't think their PM is handling it well either.

Don't they all, Blue one, seems to be the norm for a lot of
those in power.
Israel is a secular country. The very religious are not popular
there for various reasons.
Greg, I looked up the Druze and am fascinated! I will do a bit
more research. I used to love studying religious beliefs but
beame somewhat jaded. The Druze have piqued my interest.

We have different views on Israel and religion which have been
well expressed by both sides, I have little extra to add.

BlueRoses, further to previous post, bigots and xenophobes with
far-right, EDL-type tendencies, are rife on Facebook at the
moment. They take every opportunity to spread their propaganda,
inarticulae, ungrammatical, with bad spelling. If anyone
disagrees they attack, are defensive and confrontational,
sometimes insulting. Groups like 'Britannia Daily', 'Born in the
1940s, grew up in the 1950s', and others similar attract them
like flies, waving their union Jacks and England flags. It's
best to ignore them and move on (not always easy), but quite
interesting to observe. Interesting and chilling!

Quite so, but surely it's important to mention that far right
groups are behind all the violent riots taking place in the UK
at the moment, something that never occurred in the past, at
least on this scale.

Indeed they are! I thought we'd said that, maybe on the other
thread about the shooting and subsequent riots. I can remember
Tommy Robinson's name coming up.
We've had quite a few riots in the last few days, all over the
country. Nothing in Scotland! I've always found the Scots to
be quite egalitarian. Wales had one:
HTML https://www.walesonline.co.uk/news/wales-news/uk-protests-live-updates-demonstrators-29669959.
Rumours had been circulated that the perpetraor of the Southport
atrocity was 'foreign', a Muslim, had links to terorism. Farage
said, "We are not being told the whole truth". The true story
was quite different and very sad. Anyway, we've talked about
that on the 'What's Happening', thread so I won't go on about it
here.

That was several days ago in the context of more general
comments following the Southport killings and subsequent local
riots. Robinson and right-wing thugs were mentioned in passing.
Now, the riots have become more widespread on a more violent
scale and I think it's important to refer again to the far-right
as the instigators.
I've followed the news about the riots daily, even hourly,
through regularly updated online news sources. It's also turning
up increasingly on the TV news here and the local press,
probably surprising people here with a certain fixed image of
the English, although many are familar with the often violent
drunken louts who infest the Costa Brava and other holiday
locations.
