Religion has little or nothing to do with these scumbag rioters,
some of them may go to church it wouldn’t matter to them, the
majority of these are unwaged layabouts, the entitled ones who
claim for just about everything they feel they can get from the
state, we have them in Ireland and a few months ago we had
similar riots, these scum of the earth destroyed private
property, city busses and trams, not because they were concerned
about our influx of migrants, No, they are the easily led by
serious left wing criminals who blame society, the police and
government anyone in authority who might hinder their illegal
activities, they post untruths on social media regarding the
activities of our migrant asylum seekers, they claim that these
migrants are getting free houses, they get the dole of a few
hundred a week, one rumour late last year was that one migrant
family of 8 arrived in Dublin they were instantly housed in a
big 4 bed bungalow, then a week later the man’s second wife
arrived with a further 6 children and was also housed next door,
all these houses are new and worth over € 500,000 each, these
idiots believe this hype and want to get the same treatment.

In reality and over the last 9 months the majority of these
migrants entering Ireland are healthy young men who obviously
are not fleeing war-torn countries these are economic migrants
who are told that once you get into the UK or Ireland you will
get a free house and social welfare payments of a few hundred
euros every week; plus other handouts.
What they get is € 35 a week and a tent , the process of sorting
out the economic migrants from the real ones is taking upwards
of a year so our tent cities are getting bigger, we’ve been told
that the illegal ones will be shipped back to the European
country they first arrived in, eventually

Thirty five euros a week will only buy you nearly 12 coffees at
3 euros each. But! a 4 door bedroom bungalow for free . Wow!

I wonder if the surge in violence is illusory - we're more aware
of recent violence, and forget about that of earlier decades,
except for the most horrific incidents such as Dunblane,
Hungerford and the London bombing of 7/7/2005.
       [/quote]
Yes, there have been many riots in my/our (mindful that you are
       younger than me), lifetimes.
Val I know what you mean about social media, you wouldn't
believe the filth posted on facebook groups about 'immigrants'.
Britannia Daily, Born in the 1940s,50s.... and a few other
groups. It's almost unbelievable. Someone said the reason we
are so short of food in this country is because we are
supporting immigrants, I replied, "Are you short of food or is
anyone you know? I'm not, I order groceries online for delivery
and it is quite rare that something is out of stock", had no
response. Oh and of course withdrawal of the winter fuel
allowance for pensioners who are not on pension credit has
caused an uproar because 'we' are giving all 'our' money to
immigrants, boat people and the like.
They are all housed in 4 star hotels apparently and walk around
town harrassing young girls. London is not as nice as it was
back in the day because it is turning into Londonistan. I could
       go on forever.
It's ridiculous that some people in Ireland actually believed
that a newly arrived immigrant and family would be given a four
bedroomed bungalow. What happens, if they stay, is that they
live in houses of multiple occupation, sometimes substandard,
and work very hard to get on their feet.
Over here, the rent-a-mob thugs are whipped by extreme
right-wing organisations. I was surprised to see you say it was
the opposite in Ireland. Here the left wingers are more
       peaceful.
I do not understand why these Tommy-Robinson-type rent-a-mob
thugs rioted in Southport in the wake of the terrible tragedy
there. What were they hoping to achieve? It was an insult to
the mourners and all the people who held a vigil for the
       children. They should be ashamed.
I'm always articulate and well mannered towards these people on
facebook yet I am called all sorts of names. My son takes them
on too but he is better at, and cleverer about it, than I. He
       always has an answer.
I've heard it all before. I remember when the 'Indian' people
were expelled from Uganda by Idi Amin in the 1970s. A lot of
them came here. Their children and grandchildren are now
       pillars of British society.

I was looking at the latest news online this morning and came
across this, below, in the HateMail. It is probably all over
the press but the article is concise and not inflammatory so I
am posting it (though many of you will have looked at the news
       already).
Whilst I would not usually agree with naming perpetrators of
crime while they still minors, I do understand the judge's
motives. It will put an end to the wicked lying rumours spread
by the far right, which sparked the rioters.
Reading that and seeing the photo, I am more sad than ever about
       this case.

I hope his family have been taken to a place of safety. They
will need to have a formal name change. It seems that the
family’s home address and also their place of worship are being
       published on social media.

That is a good point. From what I understand, all the
neighbours and friends knew anyway but it isn't those who are
likely to riot outside the family's house and throw things at
their windows. Though why anyone would, who now knows about
this young chap, is beyond me. I've no doubt many of the
rioters are parents, they seem incapable of imagining how they
would feel if it was their son who committed this horror. There
is more about him here, it must have come as a complete shock to
those who were acquainted with him and his family:

On the dangers of social media, I'm copying here a post I made
earlier which may have been overlooked in the stream of recent
posts. I see it as a growing issue of our time and one for
serious consideration. Like all innovations, it has its positive
side and its negative side (eg. like the splitting of the atom.)
Regarding the riots, one observer has made a cogent point. The
use of social media must have played a significant part as word
can spread instantly to many people already on the streets, with
numbers increasing exponentially. This, of course, never
occurred before the rise of social media networks. What made the
Southport riots worse was the false rumour disseminated by
social media that the perpetrator of the killings was a Muslim,
hence the violent attacks on local mosques. This is disturbing
as it is something which clearly cannot be controlled, short of
       shutting down the networks.

I saw it first time, Greg, and agree social media plays a big
part. It is ongoing regarding this issue even now. People
believe what they want to believe and so many want to think the
       worst of somebody else.

Sometime in 1910 Winston Churchill handled a Wales miners
strike. not by having a super special police force, as does the
       UK P.M.today.
No. he called the British Army out to do the job.
For which in South Wales Churchill has never been forgiven.
From my own memory of events while I lived England, there was a
threat from union controlled electrical power operators to go on
strike and close off all electricity.
The governmemt reply was to turn the army out, after training
them in rudimemtary procedures to keep the electric power
       flowing.
It did not happen, I think the threat to turn the army out was
       enough!
