I honestly cannot understand the minds of Pro Palestinian
demonstrators, on the streets of various European cities. It is
obvious to anyone who uses their heads and doesn't let
themselves get too emotional that this is war . In the second
world war people thought differently . They did not say how
sorry it is that civilians get hurt.
My reasons for supporting Israel are as plain as the nose on
your face and have been stated here in previous posts. I do not
support Pro Palestinians.

I'm pretty sure they did say that, frequently, on all sides.
People have always said that. I wasn't there but I've seen
interviews and read things in which that was expressed.
The recent pro-Palestinian demonstrations passed off peacefully,
there was no rent-a-mob thank goodness.

I did live through the 2nd World War, and the concern was for
our fighting men. As for the enemy, I thought the Axis have
asked for it, Now they are going to get it.
No sympathy was shown for German civilians. Hatred of Germans
lasted after the war only for a short time, but I know of one
Englishman of my age who still 'hates' the Germans.

In ALL wars it is the innocents on both sides who suffer much
more than those who are responsible for the conflict, as is
happening in the war between Israel and Hamas. :o

In the past violations of our criminal code took place for
flying the flag of Hamas, yet the police in Toronto did not know
what do, arrest them now, arrest them later or not at all.
The elite politicians try to be on both sides of the issue, when
it occurs during a Pro Palestinian parade. Now the police are
saying we will arrest them later.
The problem is not only that justice is done, but that justice
must be seen to be done.

You can't justify arresting people for demonstrating. Canada is
supposed to be a democracy for goodness sakes, same here.
Arrests are made if things get heated and out of hand but if a
protest is peaceful, leave it alone.
The only reason politicians often side with one rather than the
other side is because of vested interests.
Going back to what was said earlier, the hatred of Germans
stopped when I was still young. It may have lasted longer where
Roses grew up in the Channel Islands which was understandable.
People were sympathetic towards innocents being killed, plus the
fact that young men were conscripted, ie had no choice but to go
and fight and many were maimed or killed. My father in law was
a pow and he didn't hate Germans. I don't suppose he was very
fond of them immediately after the war for a few years but by
the time I met him in the early seventies, he was OK with
Germans.
What we are experiencing now in he UK is an upsurge of fascism
in some quarters; they make sure their voices are heard. They
infiltrate social media with hyperbole and downright lies, are
insulting and sometimes semi-literate. It's quite frightening.
I'm disappointed that so many are my age and older, they should
know better. They hark back to the golden age, when they were
young, which never was, and display bigotry and prejudice all
the time. Thankfully they are in the minority but certainly
make their presence felt at every opportunity.

We can arrest people under sec 319 of the Criminal Code for
flying the flag of a terrorist Organization. 12 months in jail
for that. The police in one case in January changed it to hate
crime. The latter being easier to prosecute.
