I saw a speech by Trump’s granddaughter, Kai, with Trump in the
audience. He is not my cup of tea but the man she knows and
described was smiling at her with enormous warmth and love and
       pride, showing his humanity.
Still, I am PRAYING for Michelle O to throw her hat in the ring,
       and if not her, RFK.

You don't win brownie points for loving your family, it's the
       norm.
       Let's keep hoping.

It may be the norm but it is obviously not always adhered to and
there is much strife amongst families, not to mention couples -
27 Spanish women have been killed by their husbands (most
committing suicide afterwards) so far this year, although that
may have a lot to do with the weakening of traditional Spanish
macho culture. As I quoted elsewhere, "All happy families are
alike; each unhappy family is unhappy in its own way." (The
opening line of Tolstoy's 'Anna Karenina.)
As for the election, Michelle Obama has stated categorically
that she has no intention of entering the candidacy race while
Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is standing as an independent candidate
having pulled out of the Democratic list in April last year. He
would stand almost no chance of being elected. In any event,
despite growing calls for Biden to stand down (including from
Barack Obama now) and having contracted a mild form of Covid-19,
he has announced that he intends to press ahead with his
       campaign next week. ("Pride goeth...")

I admire Biden’s “do not go gently” fortitude but his health
simply will not see him or the US or the world through the next
4 years. Tony Blair visibly aged during his time as PM and he
was in his 40s then. Kamala does not seem to have made a mark.
Surely the Democrats have someone they can field. Biden could
       mentor them alongside Obama (B).

The NYTimes reported yesterday a growing number of Democrats are
urging Biden to step aside. Apparently, unless he approves it,
all the campaign funds designated to him can’t be used on
       another candidate.
I would be surprised if Michelle Obama put her hat in the ring.
She went through too much on the sidelines of her husband when
they were in the White House. No way she would take center
       stage.
For awhile now I’ve felt Trump will win. The recent
assassination attempt has emboldened otherwise quiet supporters,
and the groundswell of open support is growing now. Sigh

It is clear that Biden is incapable of beating Trump this time
around. I hope he sees sense and stands down.

On Michelle Obama, just to repeat what I said in my previous
       post:
"As for the election, Michelle Obama has stated categorically
that she has no intention of entering the candidacy race."
To add to that, when asked about the persistent rumors about her
candidacy, Crystal Carson, Michelle Obama's communications
director, reiterated what she said in March of this year: "As
former First Lady Michelle Obama has expressed several times
over the years, she will not be running for president".
       That seems definitive to me.
On Gwinnie's latest post, the list of possible Democrat
contenders is short and basically unimpressive. Top of the list
is California governor, Gavin Newsom, but his popularity ratings
are even lower than Kamala Harris's so not much potential there.
Even if one should emerge if Biden stands down, the just over
three months until the election is hardly enough time to build
       up sufficient support.
Given the surge of support for Trump after the assassination
attempt and his astute popular choice of J.D.Vance for his VP,
along with Biden's evident decline (whatever he says to the
contrary) with confusion and division in the Democrat ranks, I'd
say Trump's victory in November is almost guaranteed. Pass the
       Kleenex...

My opinion is that Michelle O will not be throwing her hat into
this ring. She has a good life which she appears to be
enjoying, is well respected and does some good. I cannot think
of one reason why she would want to be President; she does,
after all, know what it entails. She isn't Hilary Clinton who
is, or was, quite a political person. Her future lies
       elsewhere.
       I wouldn't mind being proved wrong :).

I’m seriously thinking of writing to her, and telling her that
not it’s not just the US but the whole world that needs her as
       the next POTUS.

I admire here too. I remember her coming here and giving a
motivational talk to school children; it was on TV and I was so
impressed with what she said, as were the youngsters. She is an
excellent role model and not afraid to speak out on social
issues. We could do with more high profile people like her here
(we had one for a while but the media drove her away)! However
being president would stifle that somewhat.
Not a bad idea to write to her, gwinnie.
