Trump has apparently urged Americans to "stand united", which is
a bit rich from the most deliberately divisive president of
modern times.

Agreed, but that is what you would expect from Trump. ::)

In Blueroses’ defense, I was so convinced the attempted
assassination was a set up that I delayed following any news
about it until the report about the gunman came out. Part of
that has to do with testimonies over Trump’s role in the Jan 6
effort to overturn Biden’s win and his promises to pardon those
involved. He’s definitely someone who feels he’s above the law
and will do anything to be president.
But, it does seem like the attempt was real, and the gunman
another among too many. No doubt, though, the GOP will use this
to Trump’s advantage and to further Biden’s growing
disadvantage.

In the light of that, I feel constrained to repeat something I
pointed out earlier, which should have been evident even before
the details of the shooter emerged:
1) How could someone firing into a crowd from a rooftop some
distance away be sure just to clip Trump's ear? Half an inch to
the right and Trump would have been dead.
2) The killing of a member of the crowd with two others
seriously wounded would hardly garner sympathy for
Trump if it emerged, as it certainly would, that he had planned
it.
The risk would simply have been too great.
It seems the Trump team are now pushing this photo as seemingly
showing his defiance and determination, even comparing it to the
Iwo Jima moment in WW2 with American soldiers raising the flag.
It has certainly played into Trump's hands and is regrettably
going to make Biden seem even more feeble in comparison.

It was my immediate reaction, Greg, when I first saw the
headline on my phone—to the point that I never checked the
actual details until the next day. Once I saw the picture of his
ear bleeding, my reaction was similar to that when any shooting
happens in America. It’s appalling there is such a swell of
support for absolutely no regulations on such powerful weapons
in the hands of just about anyone.

Nothing surprises me where Trump and his supporters are
concerned. :o Trump might think that becoming a monarch would
suit him better than being a president, and he will become King
Donald 1! ::)

Apparently Trump's supporters are wearing ear bandages like his,
which Trump describes as a sign of love. ::)

I watched a bit on TV last night, particularly a talk Trump gave
to a packed a assembly hall, with his wife and family present.
The support from the audience, complete with ear bandages, was
overwhelming and he was riding high. God saved him so he can
save America is what was being said. It wouldn't surprise me if
he was re-elected. God help us all.
