I am back!

I hope the fact I have rejoined this forum won't ruin your day?
:-\
I know I said I wouldn't put in an appearance again, however I
have missed the posters here and decided to see how you were all
doing.
I have a bit of news that Leslie might find interesting.
I will now have my breakfast.

Welcome back, I like your new name. Go easy on Leslie, he has a
very difficult family problem (please don't say, "Don't we all";
yes we do but each deserves sympathy). I presume you are not
moving to Canada :-).
How are you and your family, Blueroses? I have no news except
that I have moved house and am firmly ensconced in a very
pleasant, modern, two bed flat.
Greg is ill in hospital.
Steve has retired, I think that was last year.
Anyway, please tell us all your news. I have oft wondered how
you and yours are doing.

Hello Lyn, thanks for your pleasant post. :)
I hope all is well with you?
I am sorry all is not well with Leslie. Our Grandson (20) has a
French Canadian girlfriend (20), who lives in Montreal, whom he
met last year when helping out on rural school children's
holiday campsite in New York State. She used to go there as a
child. Apparently the parents have to be very well off as the
fees are $8000 a week per child! They got on really well, and
she came over to the UK for the first time in her life a couple
of weeks ago. He brought her over to meet his ancient old
Grandparents, she is a lovely person, although she looks much
younger than she is. If I had to select some as a life partner
for our grandson she would be the one I would choose. :) They
have now gone back together across the pond and will be helping
out with the kid's holiday camp again.
As for my other family news. My husband's health problems are
not getting any better. His walking is getting worse and he has
had two recent falls. The first one in the shower when one of
his grab handles came off, he slipped and was unable to stand
up. It took me an hour to get him up again, which hasn't done my
back much good! The second one was one morning outside on the
flagstones, although he was using his walking stick to walk up
and down the garden he managed to slip and hit his head on one
of our plant troughs. He wasn't knocked out, but sustained a
lump and a number of cuts on his forehead. One being about an
inch long and about two millimetres deep and a lot blood was
coming from it. Fortunately for him our next door neighbour and
his father were kind enough to help my husband up. I phoned 999
and explained the situation, and they said they would get a
paramedic to assess his situation, in the meantime I patched up
the cut as best as I could. About 7 hours later the paramedic
arrived and glued the cut together.
We have had a rail put on the other side of the stairs to the
banister, which I have at last managed to persuade my husband
was necessary, two rails have been screwed into the shower
walls, and rails have been put on the brickwork outside the
front and side doors.
There is plenty more family news, but I have said enough for
now.

Gosh, a lot has happened in your life, Blueroses, your poor
husband, and you. Take care of your back. Any possibility of
having a walk in shower put in downstairs?
Your grandson's girlfriend sounds nice but they are very young
at the moment so let's wait and see how things pan out.
I am OK at the moment, thanks, I already told you I've moved
house at last, so far so good.
Come back and tell us about your girls.
Look after yourself.

I am glad you are well and have at last moved house. :)
Although we have a downstairs loo I don't think a shower in
there would be possible, besides which, when it was suggested
the other day, my husband refused to even consider the idea.
Our girls are very busy, our eldest daughter, the Vicar, has 16
parishes, which she has oversight, some are quite a distance
away from each other.
Our middle daughter and her husband still live in Warwickshire
on their two canal boats with their younger son who is training
to be a tree surgeon. Sadly all tree of them have had some
unpleasant health problems. :(
Their eldest son (22) lives with his girlfriend in Birmingham.
He works for the railways and he had done such a fantastic job
of is previous post, yesterday they have offered him another one
with a HUGE salary to match this very important job.
Our youngest girl and her husband have had a few health problems
too, but they have had promotion at their places of work with an
increase in salaries, so I have been told.
Their younger son (18), and their daughter (16) are busy with
their exams, he is doing his 'A' levels and she is doing her
'GCSEs'.
I find it hard to believe that our Down's Syndrome son is going
to be 40 next year! He has been telling me since he was 4 years
how ancient I am, so I now keep teaching him he is going to be
very old next year! ;D He is really happy in his care home,
which is wonderful. :)

Re: downstairs shower - "....when it was suggested the other

Not just up to him, Blueroses, you have an equal say, if not
more than equal.
I am sorry to hear of your children's health problems but their
lives sound as though they are generally pretty good, and those
of their children.
Keep posting.

Good to see you posting again! I’m not here as often, but I’m
trying to check in more. Glad to hear your family is mostly
well, but feel bad for you and your husband. The falls sound
downright harrowing for you both. It’s good he didn’t suffer
worse injuries.

Thanks Beverly. :) I hope all is well with you?
Lyn, As for my husband and his problems, I have warned him that
although with only half a working brain he is probably still a
lot more intelligent than me, I do know a lot more about his
health issues than he does, and if he doesn't take my advice I
will book him into a care home!
As for the having a shower in the downstairs loo, for once he is
probably right about that, as the room is too small.

We’re all doing well here. My husband is still working full time
but from home mainly, which suits him. With the kind of work he
does, as long as he remains mentally sharp he could very well
continue working into his eighties. He enjoys the elite, expert
status a great deal.
Everyone else is doing well, thankfully. The grandkids are
getting older. One is leaving for college at the end of summer.
He’ll play basketball, which he loves. The coach there scouted
him out last year and offered him a scholarship. The college has
an app we downloaded on our TV, so we’ll be able to watch the
games. Technology can be great! 😊

Only joking. Welcome back! I saw you on telly a while back, in
that docuseries about your haunted house. (I may have mentioned
that before you departed.) As Lyn says, I am now retired and
loving it, since May 28th last year.
