It appears we are going to have a period of very warm weather.
[/quote]About bloody time too!

"The unseasonably hot weather here is due to a front of hot air
which has moved up from North Africa and over Spain and is
producing temperatures more normal for August, upto 40º in the
centre and south. Fortunately, it's not so hot here in Barcelona
being on the upper Mediterranean coast and subject to cooler
breezes and we're at around 23º at the moment." (Copied from the
In The News thread, posted yesterday.)
Fortunately, the heat wave is easing off now (current
temperature here in Barcelona 19º) and we should be back to
normal for the time of year by Monday. We're still stuck with
the severe drought, though, (no rain in many parts of Spain for
around 160 days.) I'm afraid the rain in Spain doesn't even stay
mainly on the plain, at least for now...

19deg is a comfortable temperature. It was 18 here at one point
yesterday.
Steve, I predict hail stones for the 26th May!

That's what used to be Whit Monday, isn't it, but is now feebly
called Spring Bank Holiday, trying to please everyone.
Fortunately, it's still celebrated here as a public holiday in
its original form.
Why hail stones, by the way, and not pouring rain, for example?
Yes, 19º is a comfortable temperature, it's true, but it's still
in the mid-20's in many parts of Spain. Mind you, compared to
July and August... :o

Overcast here, but the day is still young. We're now entering
the pattern where afternoon thunderstorms are becoming more
likely.

It's very windy out. We've been under a tornado watch since 5:30
am, but the weather here has been good so far.

We've just had a heavy, half-hour downpour, the first rain here
in weeks. It has also rained in the north of Catalonia, but with
no effect on the ongoing drought. The agricultural sector is
already experiencing restrictions on the use of water supplies
for irrigation, which will have an effect on produce supplies
and, in turn, prices (inflation already high.) If there is
little or no rain in the next few months (most probable
situation in spring and summer), we'll be facing domestic
restrictions in September.
One of the reservoirs here now with the original church totally
exposed:

That is worrying, Greg. The most we ever get is a hosepipe ban,
what is happening to your farms is heartbreaking.
I thought of us praying for rain to fall on Spain but so many
will be doing that night and day - and the rains will come, they
always do. We know we will all go through trials in our lives,
but that I doesn't stop anxiety during the hard waiting.
It was a pleasant, warm, sunny day out today and I enjoyed it.
It's going to be fine all week but on Saturday 6th it will rain
;D . Inevitable. Won't bother me, I'll be indoors glued to the
box!

The pictures... :o
Maybe a rain dance is in order. We need it here. Yesterday, the
first red-alert for fire danger was issued for the entire day. I
do hope we get rain soon, both here and in Barcelona.
