Val would no doubt say the same about you, Leslie. Yet I am
pretty sure Val does thorough research on this issue and doesn't
just read what he agrees with, neither would he be afraid to
admit if he was wrong, or not sure. Val does not have a closed
       mind.
Whatever, it is a horrible war and it appals me that other
countries stick their oars in and make it worse. People are
being killed on both sides at an alarming rate, why they can't
just give up and agree to Gaza, which is relatively small, I do
not know. Neither side appear to value human life.

I don't have a closed mind either Lyn. The fundamental thing is
this that Israel is in the right and Hamas is in the wrong. That
I believe and I have evidence to support my belief.

It will end when Hamas is defeated, which will come after the
IDF enters Rafah to rescue the hostages, according to Mosab
Hassan Yousef, the estranged eldest son of Hamas co-founder
Sheikh Hassan Yousef, speaking in Vancouver last Thursday.

Yes. There was a hundred years war and the crusades lasted
approximately 196 years. This conflict [s]may well[/s] will
       probably outlive us all.

My hope is that Gaza be invaded soon and put under IDF control
until Israel decides what to do with it. My guess is that this
war will be over in less than six months. I have walked in two
West banks myself. The one in Bethlehem. in control by those
supporting the late Yassar Arafat, and they inspected the bus I
was in and guarded outside the building which was the birth
       place of Christ.
The other one, we passed into without problems, and this was the
biggest West Bank. My wife floated in the Dead Sea because of
the salt. Down in Jerusalem I photographed a man on a camel ( I
gave him some money). Later on we walked the Way of the Cross.
There were Christians and Arabs living there. I got the feeling
that there was tension between the two groups after going into a
restaurants. Apart from the Jewish team leader whom I didn't get
along with too well ( I asked questions about those
fundamentalist who wore top fur hats I saw) I don't recall
meeting any more jews except those who flew with us on the same
       plane to TelAviv from Toronto.
I blame Hamas for this latest conflict..

On the question of research. It is limited to news on Tv,
Newspaper articles and magazines. We scim book reports and try
to stick to basic historical data. The Brits and the french
created countries after the WW1 and they have a lot to answer
for. In my view Israel should have been given more land than
they received in 1948. And as for the displacement of peoples,
Jews were displaced from Arab countries too. It was not one
       sided.

Nobody knows the precise location of Christ's birth, there are
traditions that claim to pinpoint it but it cannot be proven.
The big furry hats are called shtreimels or spodiks, and worn by
some of the Hasidim; the style varies according to where the
different sects originated. There is a sizeable community of
Hasidic Jews in Canada, including Toronto (mainly Lubavitcher
who usually wear black fedoras, not fur), but mainly in and
around Montreal We have many all over the UK.
Bathing in the Red Sea is known to be very good for the skin.
