I take your point, Gwinnie, but the inconveniences and related
factors just outweigh such considerations. I've hardly moved out
of my neighbourhood in years now and the thought of having to go
here, there and everywhere with my mobility problems is just too
much. Even so, if I did and there proved to be organic problems
involved, I just couldn't face the whole gruelling, tiring
business of regular treatment just to eke out my remaining time
here. Mind you, if I experienced the onset of some serious
illness, a phone call to my insurance company would ensure my
place in a clinic by ambulance and subsequent good treatment.
       Meanwhile, sufficient unto the day...
Yes, I paid into the social security system for years and it
guaranteed me a generous pension. I'm happy with that.

Just take care of yourself as best you can, Greg. A few
lifestyle changes may make a lot of difference. It's good to
know you are able to, and would, access emergency treatment if
       necessary. We're all behind you.

I accept what you are saying, Greg, but coming from a family of
nurses, teachers and carers, I don’t agree! It is a fuss, yes,
but the leaking edema is a symptom to act on.

Without going round in circles, just to reiterate that getting
it attended to would involve all the rigmarole (or fuss) I've
described and I'm just not up to facing that. You're younger,
Gwinnie, and such measures wouldn't seem arduous or exhausting
for you, but they would for me and meanwhile I'm sensing nothing
immediately threatening, I'd rather pass for now.
Another factor is the problems I'm having with sleep, ie.
insomnia, and that often leaves me feeling drained of energy and
certainly reluctant to engage in charging around the city. And
as I think I said earlier natural or pharmaceutical sleep
inducers just create weird images in my mind and give me odd
dreams and sensations (and I wake up anyway!) Oh, and apparently
leaking legs and edemas are very difficult to cure anyway, just
       keep under daily control.
So, till the next medical report! :D

You have my sympathy with your insomnia, Greg. As you know, I
have often had that, less so now, thankfully. I tend to sleep in
two shifts :-). When I wake in the middle of the night I find
things to do, or watch a video or listen to something, then
drift off to sleep again so I wouldn't say insomnia is a problem
for me now. However, I remember how awful it was, especially
when I was anxious. It may pass, Greg.
I also get what you said to gwinnie about her being quite a bit
younger than us and feel much the same.
I won't say any more, except do drink water, definitely cut out
salt and put your legs up - sleep with pillow under them if you
can - but I expect you know that; it's your life and you know
       what you're doing.
       Prayers continue.

It has changed the way Greg uses this forum. At risk of sounding
like a nag, I am not reassured by either Lyn or Greg himself x

I really don't get what you're saying, Gwinnie. How have the
ways I'm using the forum changed? All I've done is give an
account of my current health problems and the reasons why I'm
not seeking treatment for now while Lyn has simply expressed
understanding of and sympathy with my position. That's all,
       really.

You can take a horse to water but can't make it drink, gwinnie.
       That's life.

We already talked about lifting legs on previous page but not
with a chair which I must say looks pretty good, and
comfortable. I wouldn't mind one of those, and which reclines,
but I don't have the problems that Greg is having so no urgency.
I have a bed which does both but not used the gadgets yet.
Greg, I am not going to keep on about this but there are food
and drinks which act as diuretics - other than drinking plenty
of water. Much to avoid too. I won't list them, you can google.
I hope you are feeling somewhat better today.
