So I’ve just asked Bard to tell me about using AI on
messageboards. It gave me three drafts and I thought I’d put one
in here, as a sample piece! Next post is AI. I’ve put quote
marks on to make it clear it’s not me..

“ Artificial intelligence (AI) can be used in a variety of ways
on message boards. Some common uses include:
Moderation: AI can be used to automatically moderate message
boards for spam, offensive content, and other violations of the
board's rules. This can free up human moderators to focus on
more complex tasks.
Recommendation: AI can be used to recommend relevant threads and
posts to users based on their interests and past activity. This
can help users to discover new content and connect with other
users who share their interests.
Translation: AI can be used to translate threads and posts into
different languages. This can make message boards more
accessible to a global audience.
Search: AI can be used to improve the search functionality of
message boards. This can help users to find the information they
are looking for more quickly and easily.
Content generation: AI can be used to generate content for
message boards, such as summaries of news articles, blog posts,
and other web pages. This can help to keep message boards fresh
and engaging.
In addition to these specific uses, AI can also be used to
improve the overall user experience of message boards. For
example, AI can be used to personalize the content that users
see, make it easier for users to find the information they are
looking for, and improve the quality of communication between
users.
Here are some examples of how specific message boards are using
AI:
Stack Overflow: Stack Overflow is a popular question-and-answer
website for programmers. The site uses AI to recommend relevant
questions and answers to users, and to moderate the site for
spam and offensive content.
Reddit: Reddit is a social news aggregation and discussion
website. Reddit uses AI to recommend relevant subreddits and
posts to users, and to moderate the site for spam and offensive
content.
Quora: Quora is a question-and-answer website where users can
ask questions and get answers from experts. Quora uses AI to
recommend relevant questions and answers to users, and to
moderate the site for spam and offensive content.
Overall, AI is a powerful tool that can be used to improve
message boards in a variety of ways. As AI technology continues
to develop, we can expect to see even more innovative and useful
applications of AI on message boards.
It is important to note that there are also some potential
challenges and risks associated with using AI on message boards.
For example, AI systems can be biased, and they can be used to
generate harmful or misleading content. It is important to
carefully consider the potential risks before using AI on a
message board, and to implement safeguards to mitigate those
risks.”

ChatGPT and generative AI can be used by University of Toronto
instructors in teaching (with caution). There is an article,
Education is Evolving in the Age of AI, in the University of
Toronto's Autumn 2023 magazine about it.

I don't want Artificial Intelligence , I want real intelligence,
and I object to Microsoft giving me AI as a Copilot, which I
will never use.
Garbage In : Garbage Out, said computer programmers years ago.
The same holds true today.
Much of AI is from memory banks stored in computer language. AI
is being over emphasized by popular media.
