       Testing TG 100 Parrot question
   DIR By: N1KK
       Date: April 29, 2019, 10:12 am
       ---------------------------------------------------------
       There are many times I will test on Parrot on TG 100. Watching
       my pi star dashboard I can see
       BER of less than 1% with 0% Net Loss. However the reply Parrot
       will not contain any audio of my transmission.
       I will repeat the process and there will be audio. Other times
       maybe half or less of my Parrot test
       transmission will be missing words, for example.. Test 12345
       and only 4,5 might come back.
       My experiences appear to be random.
       Prior to my Parrot transmission I check to make sure my hotspot
       is not transmitting showing no signal strength
       on my HT. This is also confirmed by the Pi star Dashboard.
       Could this be nothing more than a network issue? My pi star is
       connected via WiFi to a 300 down
       30 up WiF. The MMDVM I have uses a Raspberry Pi zero w board.
       Radio board is what you find on ebay
       STM32-DVM/MMDVM_HS - Raspberry Pi Har (GPID) firmware HS_Hat:
       v1.4.16
       The Pi Zero on the Admin Dashboard screen show Pi Zero W Rev.
       1.1 (512MB)
       Kernel 4.9.35+     CPU Load 0.75/0.77/0.86   CPU Temp  38.5 C /
       102.2 F
       When using my HT on a repeater (no hotspot in use) I have not
       had any drop out issues including
       using the repeaters Parrot TG.
       Any thoughts?
       Thanks,
       Ken

       I've noticed the exact same behavior when using the TGIF Parrot,
       so I'm inclined to believe that it's a server side issue rather
       than anything we're doing.
       I've tested using both standard high speed Internet and cell
       phone tethering with similar results: Sometimes I'll get perfect
       playback, but the very next transmission will only give back
       partial audio.

       Bingo,
       You described my exact experience. As long as I am good at my
       end I am happy.

       Do you get the same results with 9990?

       That was one of the first things I tried, and yes, it exhibited
       exactly the same behavior.

       Phil helped me out with this on the DMR Gateway. Here's what I
       wound up with. It appears TGIF is sending Parrot back on TG 9990
       so the SrcRewrite on 100 may not be necessary.
       [DMR Network 3]
       Enabled=1
       Name=TGIF_Network
       Id=xxxxxxx
       Address=tgif.network
       Password=passw0rd
       Port=62031
       Local=62033
       TGRewrite=2,500001,2,1,99999
       PCRewrite=2,500001,2,1,99999
       SrcRewrite0=2,100,2,100,1
       SrcRewrite1=2,9990,2,9990,1
       Location=0
       Debug=0

       Thanks for that, Moe. I'll try those rewrite changes later
       tonight, see if it alters the behavior any, and report back.

       Well, this is interesting. I ran several tests on both 100 and
       9990 and they were ALL perfect...without making any of those
       changes!
       The only difference I can see between the tests I made
       previously and the ones I did tonight is in the number of active
       talkers on the network. This evening, that number is fairly low
       compared to the previous times.
       So...maybe overall network activity is somehow a factor in all
       this?

       I'm glad it's working for you without the changes... at least
       with low activity It never did for me.
       As busy as TGIF can get, I'm migrating to duplex (once it gets
       here), giving TGIF Time Slot 1 per this thread:
  HTML https://forum.pistar.uk/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=1154
       I'll see how Parrot works with that configuration.

       I tried this this morning and had the same problem. So far this
       random but happening more than not.
