TGIF is being blocked. No access to the website or my Hotspot

I have had this problem on and off for a few years now. Every
once in a while I can't access the TGIF network with my HOTSPOT
       or log into the website.
If I use a VPN on my computer like IPvanish, I can connect to
the website. I contacted COX communications, my provider and
they tell me they are not blocking
the TGIF website. The only way I can get around it is to
change my Router which forces a new COX IP address and wait a
few days. Then when I connect
my original router back up I have a 50/50 chance COX will give
it a new IP address and all is working again until it happens
       again.
I have removed the router and connect directly to my computer
but that also gives me a new IP address from COX and the problem
goes away. When I use the router I am blocked which
also returns it to my original IP from COX.
I don't change any settings in my router. Really puzzled why
this happens. If I could run my Rasberry Pi on a VPN it would
be a solution but its a bit complicated
for me to set that up. Any ideas what could be causing this
returning problem every so often would be appreciated.
       Thanks, Ken N1KK

       Hi Ken,
The most likely explanation is that the the provider that hosts
the TGIF Network is banning IP ranges used by Cox in response to
hacking, denial of services attacks, spam, and so on. That sort
of thing happens all the time throughout the Internet and isn't
limited to Cox or any other provider.
Here's a common scenario that I've seen over and over again in
my profession as a computer support specialist: A client will
call me and say that they've been trying to send emails to a
relative which are getting bounced back as rejected by their
ISP. I look into it and find out that a hacker had compromised
a computer on an IP address on the same block of addresses as
the client and was using it to send out spam. The relative's
ISP had ended up banning the entire IP block for 24-48 hours
which, of course, includes the client's IP address.
Bottom line: If this is indeed what's going on, there (usually)
isn't very much we can do about this on our end. However, on
the odd chance that something with your particular setup is
somehow triggering the protections on OUR individual server, we
could determine that if you could record and send us some data
so we could check our logs:
       1) Record the date, time, and the IP address on COX when your
are able to successfully connect to the TGIF network.
       2) Record the same information during a failure event when you
       can't connect.
       3) Finally, record the same information when you're able to
successfully connect again (presumably after getting a new IP
       address).
This will allow us to pinpoint the exact time of failure in our
server logs to see what's actually going on with your actual
connection...and if there's anything we can do on our end to
       resolve it.
       Best Regards,
       Joe, WB3IHY

Thank you for the reply. Currently I am using my back up router
which due to the different MAC address I get a new IP address
and all works again with TGIF network.
I usually go a few days to a week then switch back to my
original router and most of the time and by then, the original
router gets a new IP address and I am good to go
until this happens again. I know COX claims they change their
IP address often but I have experienced months of no change
unless I get a power outage and then maybe
I get a new IP. Its hit or miss.
I did once contact TGIF about this in the past and was told they
didn't block the IP so it left me lost to the problem thinking
it was my router however after doing the switching of
of routers then returning to my original router with the only
difference was the IP address so I wasn't comfortable blaming
       the router.
I will try and find a support person and explain once again the
problem. If I have the problem when I switch back to my
original router I will email support that IP address which
       doesn't work
and the IP that does work which might help them.

Could someone please forward me a email address and name for
SUPPORT so I could review my IP issue with TGIF
       Thank you,

I would like to report after a couple days using a backup router
to to force a new IP address from my Provider COX
       communications,
I switched back to my original router (same exact model as my
backup, and once again I have received a different IP address
       and all is working
with my original router again. This will go on for maybe
several months until I get blocked from ONLY TGIF, all other
       internet sites will
continue to work fine. I have documented the new IP address and
will forward it to TGIF support

       Hi Ken,
       support@tgif.network
Include all details from this discussion plus the ip addresses
and exact dates/times when you got the results so we can check
       the logs against them.

       Thanks,
Yesterday I sent to support what happened and my new IP address
that is now working. I explained the only
change in my router was the new IP assigned by my provider. I
wrote on paper the dates and the IP and when
it happens again I will have more info.
I did ask they keep in mind my new IP address should they be
blocking groups of COX communications IP addresses.
       I am glad I use a separate modem/router. I'm not sure what I
would do if I had a combo modem router.
Maybe put the modem/router in "Bridge mode then add an external
router just to get a new IP address.
A real pain that has been going on for at least 3-4 years.
       Thanks again,
       Ken
