no longer can connect to tgif network

My hotspot and PC can no longer connect to the tgifnetwork
server. I can surf anywhere else and it works fine,
only tgif.network is a problem. This happened once about a
year or so ago. Tried power cycle of modem
and router, no change. Did this when the problem happened a
year or so ago, no change then.
If I bypass my router and connect my PC directly to my modem I
can connect to tgif.network.
I know your going to say it's the router buy why ONLY
tgif.network is my connection problem?
When this happen some time back for some reason it just started
working again. I did post the problem on the TGIF facebook
last time it happened and today hoping to find an answer why, of
all sites, I am having the problem with tgif.network.
This is driving me crazy. I have no hotspot or the ability to
connect with my PC to tgif.net.
I have one thought for a guru out there. If I use my IPvanish
VPN I can connect to TGIF. This is with
my router also in line. Obviously my IP has changed with a VPN
but why just taking out my router
and gong direct to my modem, without IPvanish I can also connect
to tigif.network ?
The problem started last night. Prior it had been working fine
for several months.
any tips would be appreciated. thanks Ken, N1KK

For those interested
I swapped out my router. I have a few of these asus RT-N66U
routers.
Everything worked for 6 hours then started having the same exact
problem.
Can not get on tgif network and my hotspot was down.
My thoughts, either my provider or the TGIF server has a problem
with with my IP or the path
my connection gets to them. Using a VPN (IPvanish) I can get to
tgif network.
Other than a different IP when using a VPN I don't know if the
VPN alters the data
or what the path is to get to tgif network.
My router has a feature that lets me clone the mac address. I
changed the mac address of the
router to my laptops mac address except I changed the last
digit.
This also got my a new Public IP address. Everything has been
working now. Its been 2 days and all is working.
I would really like to know why it's working. During the
trouble shooting I did change the DNS
from what my provider (COX) configured in my routerfor to
8.8.8.8 and then 8.8.4.4 but no luck.
It's back to the stock COX configured DNS.
