Backup function

Does the backup / restore function within the Pi-Star dashboard,
only apply for specific settings and configuration? I am
assuming it does.... It is not backing up the entire card,
correct?
Sorry, but I am one month into this Pi-Star hotspot thing and
have corrupted my card.

You're correct: The backup/restore function only applies to
pi-star configuration settings (and omits certain ones such as
system/dashboard passwords).
It does not back up the entire card.
There is a way to make a complete, fully functional, backup
clone of your existing Pi-Star installation to another microSD
card. Doing so allows you to power down your hotspot, swap in
the cloned copy for the corrupted one, power up the hotspot, and
be "back in business" in no time.

Of course, you need to do this BEFORE you corrupt your only
copy. Unfortunately, it sounds like you're past that point.
But keep it handy for when you manage to get it running again.

No, Fortunately I purchased a backup card with the Hot Spot, I
just want to clone it before I mess up the backup card. I don't
even know what I did that messed up the first card. I power it
down from the dashboard on my iPhone. The consensus is that you
just don't pull the usb power cable from the hot-spot. I turned
it on and it says that is was updated and needed to know what
"Modem" was installed on the Hot spot and when I select that
choice now and save changes it gives me an error. Robert seemed
to think it is corrupted. To top it off, I don't currently have
the Micro-USB to Ethernet cable to get into the config without
WiFi.

If this is a TGIF-Spot (either junior or its "big brothers) then
the RPI-Clone utility should already be installed on the card.
Following the cloning procedure on the link I provided should
allow you to make a fully working clone copy.
Your power down procedure before disconnecting the USB cable is
spot on. Just make sure to wait 30 seconds after issuing the
power off command to make certain the hotspot fully completes
its shut down.

Thanks, Joe. That looks awful daunting. But I will try it and
see what happens.
I just wished I knew what caused the card to get "Corrupted".
Yesterday morning after powering off as described, I turned it
on and after logging into pi-star, I get a window that says:
"WARNING: The modem selection has been updated, Please re-select
your modem from the list"
Robert informed me what modem to select. This greenhorn didn't
know which one to pick from the list of 20 or more. I selected
the one he advised and clicked "Save Changes" and I get an error
and the same window pops up again and the cycle keeps repeating
itself. Yes It is the junior, but I don't have the ethernet
cable adapter and I don't think it will get far enough along to
be able to log back into the pi-star dashboard. Like I said, I
have a backup card, but would feel better if I cloned it before
using it.
