       Receive Groups
   DIR By: nj3h

       ---------------------------------------------------------
       Greetings,
I have an MD-380 radio. Let's say I have 20 TGIF channels that
I have put into a receive group, called say "TGIF Receive Group
1". Let's also assume I have promiscuous mode OFF.
When I engage tg 777, how do I get the scan function to use the
receive group instead of just the current channel (since
promiscuous mode is off)? What if I have two TGIF receive
groups. How do I tell the radio to use one versus the other?
I would like to be able to just scan the channels that I listen
to as opposed to all the TGIF channels.
Any help will be most appreciated.
       Thanks.

       Easy
Since you have created 2 receive groups
Each channel can have a receive group set to it
So if you are setting on a channel say ”scan1” and it’s receive
       group is tgif1
Then key up and that’s all the Ty’s you hear
Change to channel”scan2” receive group thif2
       And that’s all you hear
Ovecorse it’s not perfect because 777 opens all the
You just choose what to hear, but a busy tg not on your receive
       could dominate
What you hear (one heard at a time)

Thanks for the reply. I guess my question needs to be refined.
How do I hear all of the channels and just those channel that
are in receive group 1. I don't understand how to tell the radio
       to just listen to them.
Ok, do I tunr the radio to tg 777 and just hit the ptt to start
a scan? Are you saying channel scan 1 is a list of stations to
scan? Wish there was a youtube to follow along with.
Do I need to set up a scan list as well?
Sorry to be a pain, but I am just not grasping it.

I know it takes some head scratching to understand wha it
       happening
So back to basics might clear it up
777 really is not a scan
It just tells the server to send to your hotspot
All traffic on all talk groups on a single channel
With parmiscous on your radio passes all traffic it hears
       reguarless of tg
With parmiscous off your radio will filter all tg that does not
match what is set up on the channel
       Ie 777
The receive group widens this to a list of tg
So really it’s not scanning just filtering per the channel and
       receive group
       Hope that helps

       Thanks again,
This is what I think the game plan is:
       1. So it sounds like I have to create a channel 777.
       2. On the 777 channel setup screen, if I assosciate it with a
specific receive group, then those are the channels that I will
       hear.
       3. If there are a different set of TGIF
TGs that I want to hear, I would create another channel 777 with
a different receive group associated with it.
Appreciate sticking with me on this.
