       politics – originate from
a series of structural clashes whose effects have spread among
the geopolitical spheres . , economic and political . Among the
various forces behind these ruptures, you point to the
geopolitics of energy as a determining factor.

The starting point of contemporary energy geopolitics, and
consequently of my book, is at the beginning of the 20th century
, when it became clear to the major European powers that an "age
of oil" was about to begin. Very soon, the European governments
realized that this world would be quite dangerous for them
because they did not have oil reserves on their soil, unlike,
for example, the United States or Russia. During World War I, it
became clear that the military power of the 20th century would
be based on oil as a source of energy. For this reason, the most
important contribution of the United Statesto the war was not
necessarily the sending of troops, but its ability to supply oil
to Britain and France, when Germany and its allies could not get
       it.
