       how many eggs???

The egg vendor calls on his first customer and sells half his
eggs and half an egg. To the second customer, he sells half of
what he had left and half an egg and to the third customer he
sells half of what he had then left and half an egg.
P.S. He didn't break any eggs. In the end three eggs were
       remaining.
How many did he start out with?

If X is the number of eggs to start with,
then, by solving the below equation,
       x- [ (x+1)/2 + (x+1)/4 + (x+1)/8 ] = 3
       we get x = 31. :o :o :o :o

just by mathematical equation solving, u get this answer
31....but in reality this is not possible right......... ??? ???
       ??? giving a half egg without breaking..... :-[ :-[

but as per the question it says that the egg vendor calls on his
first customer and sells half his eggs and half an egg ....then

It is just a trick in mathematical calculation but not about
literally breaking the egg into 2 halves.
