Aghast at how DIFFICULT it is to join your site!
By: johnfree Date: April 29, 2012, 7:39 am

Axylon
My grandson Harvey age 11 and I have been MAD KEEN to join for
several months
I am the friend of OLdoslover who first told me about you and
has never relented in his efforts to solve the difficulties that
YOU raise!
Are you trying to keep people AWAY from Joining!
Do not be discouraged your site is inactive - nobody can
join!!!!!
Most of us try from Google and get BLANK words to interpret to
show we are human
Those who then, like me, try via Chrome, find the words we are
expected to read FAR TOO DIFFICULT. Similarly via Gmail
I have spent a total of 6 hours now TRYING which shows how keen
Harvey and I am!
The result is FINALLY (just now) it has worked and I have not
the slightest idea HOW it worked
Even now I do not know if I am john free or johnfree, but
hopefully I am now signed in "for ever" and need not be driven
mad
My Harvey is EXACTLY the right person to help you ATTRACT
teenagers to your site and into programming THEIR OWN games (via
first being able to MODIFY the games they ENJOY playing)
Have you heard of qb64 and the wonderful book just published
showing HOW teenagers can use it to learn how to modify their
FAVOURITE adventure games and even then write their own!
John

i have QB64, and i know the guy who wrote the book "game
programming for kids" as well. QB64 and other forms of BASIC are
my favorite languages.

one more thing, sign your grandkids up for a hotmail account and
an account on here. that way it's easier to tell the difference
between you guys.

Hi all,
Sound sensible thinking to me.

Perhaps you should try registering a new user from a
different computer to prove that it works as expected. I can not
explain John's difficulties but do believe him.

Yes listen to OLdos. He is wise and sensible
At present you have 4 members BECAUSE the other 40 are all
unable to sign on!
So do as Oldos says - get ANOTHER computer and experience for
YOURSELF how impossible it is to sign on from Google etc etc and
how ILLEGIBLE the "required to read" tests are even when you
manage to get given them on screen!
Do you only WANT people with 20/20 eysight and superb ears?

i just tried it, and you can see it. i lessened the
requirements. if i make it so i have to approve manually the new
users, i figure its to hard so i just included a lower level
captcha. people can also use facebook accounts and google to
sign up

Several other of the best people who escaped from QB64 to set up
their own sites had the same problem - Google has a punctuation
error. For exampl;e on QB64 Wiki examples it puts the whole
program onto ONE long line! I wrote and told Clippy and he
agreed he was too lazy to correct it as he expects Goodle to
adjust to him!
The new site escapees all found nobody came to their sites and
wondered why. On MOST computers Google give BLANK captchas, so
you have NO CLUE what words (where) you were being expected to
read!
Glad you are fixing it and making the captchas easier - good
idea
I suspect that the way I DID get in - after 7 hours effort
extended over a momth - was via Gmail, but I cannot be sure ;
only very glad as for me it works fine now!

clippys no moderator, nor admin. you must be thinking of
something else cus it doesn't show up as one line on the wiki

Clippy is nobody at all, just a busy body: certainly no
moderator! He is the Judy and the mod is "Punch" so they can
fight endlessly. Both are very ancient.
The examples on QB64 wicki in Firefor via Google get copied but
ALL IN ONE LINE, so you have to take ages guessing how to
punctuate them so that they run!
My info is a year old, but I doubt Firefox/Google have changed
to suit Clippy!
I expect it remains a stalemate.
Would you like me to try to attach a huge "all one line" Example
from the Wiki?
Maybe best to forget and concentrate on a better future! ;D
