Things you would like to know about Dragon Slayer organization.

organization.
Right now these are told:

That's it. :D
So ideas please.

actually since only this little is known about dragon slayers, i
always felt like dragon slayers are not an organization but
rather just strong guys being able to fight dragons because of
their special nature.
i mean sure, in some chapter some guard saith hes a dragonslayer
soon and that hints at them being some sort of order, but that
just doesnt feel right to me.
for example, somewhere in this forum someone said something
about the anime/manga fairy tail. do you know it? in that manga,
dragon slayers are people who mastered magic that was created to
slay dragons, long ago, in the dragon wars (sounds familiar?).
so basically everyone who can learn that magic is a dragon
slayer, but they are not some kind of order and not all dragon
slayers fight on the same side. also, dragonslayer magic is the
same "style" of magic that real dragons use, so dragons can
actually teach dragonslayer magic to humans. at least, thats how
it works in fairy tail and to be honest, even though i only
watched fairy tail after i played TCO, thats exactly how i
imagined it in TCO aswell.
the ranks on the other hand are assigned by the military or king
of belgaron, so thats where they connect to the kingdom, but not
by being dragonslayers naturally. means, if some guy in the
woods is super strong and kills dragons, hes a dragonslayer even
though he doesnt belong to the belgaron military. get my point?
a dragonslayer is someone who is courageous and strong enough to
face dragons head on, not some dully who goes through some kind
of military training.
actually you can learn everything about dragon slayers just by
looking at tharo. hes the essence of a dragon slayer. you cant
fuck with him, you cant even CLICK on him without him killing
you. hes strong, hes wild and he doesnt give a fuck. why is he a
dragon slayer? because he slays dragons, not because hes in the
military, he probably wasnt even in the military to begin with,
but was only placed in a high rank because of his power.
the rank of a dragon slayer may be assigned through politics,
but being a dragon slayer can never be assigned by anyone but
yourself through slaying a dragon. thats how it works.
hence if there are no dragons to fight, you aint becoming no
dragon slayer. you aint not joining no dragon slayer order. you
aint not caught up in dragon slayer politics. why not? because
youre not a damn dragon slayer without having a god damn dragon
head on your chimney!
_______________________________________________________
okay that was just me bragging about dragon slayers but not
answering your question. what you could tell about them you ask.
well, as i see it, the only thing that makes them really
recognizeable is the battles they fought in the war. im not sure
as of to tell more stories about the battles and the war, since
all we are getting told is interesting but scarce. if you'd tell
more, you'd probably destroy the "legend" feeling about the war.
right now, what we know about dragon slayers is that they are
badass, do we need to know more? sure i want to know which
dragons phodom slew and what kind of battle it was, and i want
to know where tharo got elexorien from and why hes so fucking
strong, but would it be good if i knew? aint i so in love with
tharo because i DONT know? because i can imagine it myself?
thats what i think. if you create something really cool, leave
it at that without explaining WHY its all so cool.
as always i have an example. do/did you watch the naruto anime
or read the manga? personally i dont like it very much, but what
i do like is the character itachi. holy shit is he badass and
nobody really knows why. he killed his own family and all of his
clan and only spared his little brother and there are tons of
theorys from all sorts of characters about why he did what and
how he became so fucking strong, and when everything is being
explained it the end, it sucks so hard you want to invent a time
machine and go back to the day you started watching this
bullshlt anime and throw your computer out the window.
media, especially games, is not made to substitute the human
fantasy but rather to draw it out. the more you can make people
imagine a lot while only giving them little, the better you are.
and i think thats exactly what TCO does right now, holy shit am
i imagining alot here.
PS: btw one question: in older versions, at the beginning of
every chapter, you had that legend of dragoon title screen
music, right? you probably removed it due to loading times, but
if you put that back in again, i'd gladly load a few seconds
longer for it.
PS2: i just remembered that this noc'thoria guy founded a dragon
slayer organization, but to me thats more of a place where
strong people gather instead of a place where strong people are
made.

Everyone can learn how to use magic.

But in Oelivert they do. Or suppose to do.

Nope, there are other organizations too which are meant to kill
dragons. Dragon Slayers are Balgaron's and most famous and most
powerful organization. For example Saoloth has Dragon Knights.
However, not all nations fight against dragons, we have to
remember that.

He's a dragon slayer because he wants to keep the balance in
Oelivert. He's simply the only one on Balgaron who actually can
match with powers to supreme powerful dragons like Xvareon.
There's much more about this character than that.

He got his sword from his father who left the dragon slayers
long time ago. Everything in the end points to Zeemnan who I
haven't told much about. This is quote from interlude 1:
X = Xvareon
Z = Zarxof
X: How is the plan progressing?
Z: The plan is going along well and we have eliminated many
Dragon Slayers. There are some unexpected problems however.
X: Did Zeemnan appear?
Z: No, not yet.
X: What is the problem then?
Z: There are some very powerful Dragon Slayers who just simply
cannot be killed.
X: And who would they be?
Z: Some high ranked Dragon Slayers and wizards from Magic Guild.
X: As long as Zeemnan doesn?t appear things should go well.

You're in love with someone you know nothing about. There are
just small hints all over the campaign what truly Tharo is.

Yes, I know the story. Tharo is something like that, but so is
Zeemnan. Quote from chapter 10;
X = Xvareon
G = Galeoth
X: I see. Well, Galeoth. Please introduce your fellow companions
at least.
G: No.
X: Can I guess then? Lately I been investigating some of you. I
am searching for someone specific inside your kingdom... I may
even know these two.
G: Tharo!?
X: Oh yes, but that is for another case.
G: So you are plotting with him!
X: Am I? Perhaps...
And if I can spoil you a little:
After TCO a bounty is place on Tharo's head just like
his father shortly after the war. Then they are the most wanted
men in the world with bounty very high. They accused for
plotting with dragons, faking Xvareon's death and telling lies
that the dragons have been eliminated permanently.
Indeed. But there are explanations for all of this. I've been
inventing this story for 5 years. This story is not a simple bad
vs good or dark vs light story. Everyone has secrets. Even those
who looks like they would never be good guys. And those who look
like they are bad guys but are in the end doing things for a
greater good. These are words from Zylcious to
Yardeniox(Talloon, chapter 10):
"And do you honestly believe Yardeniox 'wise words' and
kindness? Do you really believe he is so kind he would travel
all around Oelivert for hundred of years just to find a way to
make all of us live in peace?
That is not true. That cannot be true.
He is a lie himself.
Like all dragons, he has been using all these years to to do
things for his own good.
We are in the end all the same; we aim for the exact same goal.
The difference is just the method.
One thing I am sure. The one finds the way first will decide the
fate of others.
We will eventually become what we used to be in the beginning.
There is nothing that can stop us."
-> It is up to you who will you believe, as the there are
millions of options what can happen and what are the goals of
the characters.
[quote author=CoNteMpT link=topic=1306.msg12018#msg12018

Yes well it doesn't work as the loading at the beginning makes
it bug nowadays.
***The dialogs I showed up are not final and may change but the
meaning stays in a way or another.

"You're in love with someone you know nothing about. There are
just small hints all over the campaign what truly Tharo is."
exactly what i said. its the mystery i love.
thats also true to the other characters. characters are loveable
because you know SOMETHING about them but not everything, so the
heavier and fewer the little things are, the more interesting a
character becomes. tharo for example. hes perfect.
the problem arrises when you try to tell the backstory of a
really cool character (like itachi or tharo) and then just make
complete predictable smoochy-poochy nonsense out of it (like
itachi). sure i dont expect you to do so, but after all, the
less the player is told about the big secrets, the more he can
imagine.
for example, did you watch LOST, the TV show?
its all very mystical and shit and you theorize years about
whats going on since its really well made and you only get
information bit by bit but you always get more mystery than
information so all the questions pile up endlessly and that is
actually a really really good thing since every question makes
sense by itself somehow so that you dont need the "true" answer
to find it good but your own suspicions and fantasies are
enough.
LOST has 6 seasons and in season 5 they started to reveal the
plot more and more, and the more they told us about the
background and shit, the worse it has gotten. season 6 was so
bad that i and many other lost fans rather wanted their lifetime
back than to have watched it.
so what im saying is: dont take away the imaginations of the
players when revealing big secrets. its a thin line to walk but
since you seemingly played legend of dragoon, you should know
your business ; )
