How can this spell be improved #2

Here we have a new ability that is currently considered
underpowered. First let's look at its description

FROST SHARD
Hurl an enchanted frost shard towards the target that damages
it. If the target succumbs to the damage it will explode and
unleash smaller shards of ice from its body that damage nearby
enemies for 50% of the original target's damage.

Aero and I are currently looking for a new idea to replace the
condition for the trigger of the explosion. Aero concluded that
requiring the target to be killed isn't effective against bosses
so we need an improment. Tell us what you think and if possible,
your idea to fix this issue.
I don't attach any test map so if any of you want to see the
current ability in action send me a PM and I will give you the
test map.

Currently it happens when the enemy dies. Something else.
There are some possibilities like:
- Happens only when enemy unit is under 50% health
- X% chance to happen
- Every Xth cast
- Under effect of Brittle
You like something from the list or you've something else in
your mind? What is it?

How about if the enemy has taken damage within the last 3
seconds or something like that? Just makes the game more
interesting and a bit more thinking is required ;)

It isn't really tactical as such, and it's almost the same as
the shards just happening every time

Aero and I picked this condition: if the target succumbs to the
damage or its HP is under 50% of max HP the frost shard effect
will occur.
The spells will be imported tomorrow. Thanks all for your kind
suggestions.
