A goodbye message from a Global Moderator
By: doomlord Date: June 15, 2012, 6:32 am
---------------------------------------------------------
Long story short: I am about to enter my final year of high
school and my parents want me to concentrate fully on studying
this year. That's why I'm going to be inactive for about one
year, starting from Monday or maybe Wednesday. It doesn't really
mean that I will disappear completely during the year, I will
still drop by the forum from time to time. About July or August
2013 we will meet again. I promised.
Now there are still a few words that I want to leave behind for
all those who read this post, especially (new) members of this
forum, as a message to the whole community of TCO forum. Please
spare a few minutes of your precious time to read it as it is my
last-ditch attempt at reviving this dying community.
A LETTER TO THE TCO COMMUNITY
HTML http://www.tcocampaign.com/index.php?topic=1182.0
And my final words for Aero, the Mighty Map Maker: I hope that
when I come back the campaign will be in its near-perfect form.
I appreciate your efforts and devotion to your dream. Thanks for
everything.

Ah man, sad to see you going. I can relate though, I'm going to
be concentrating on my major (Science/Physics field) more
intensely once I go back at the end of summer so I won't be able
to work on the campaign as much or at all. Studies should always
come first though. Hopefully I can find someone to fill my
place, at least in the text field of the game (though I'll
always check on Aero every now and then for quality control ;)
.)
Anyway, concentrating more on the topic theme here. I agree that
this forum isn't as lively as it should be (even though I tried
to get more traffic towards this forum). I'd hope that more of
these people who just lurk on the forum would be a little more
interactive so that we can form a stronger community. It seems
like there is always just the few who always participates in
major matters.
Perhaps one day we can get some more people to become as active
as some of our members today. If some of our dedicated members
go inactive like you are, then this forum will very well crash
and burn, yet we should try and prevent that. I believe that is
the intention you are trying to go for, finding more people to
take a bigger part in the forum so that this place doesn't
become a ghost town. Without a strong community base, this
campaign won't be as good as it possibly can be since it is a
very community-involved project. I hope that we can amend this
problem soon.
With all that being said, good luck on your education, sometimes
it sucks but you just gotta go through it, though senior year is
fun (the second half at least, first half is all college related
stuff, it's rough but in the end, everything seems just to work
itself out, so don't stress too much like I did). Hope you do
well ;D.

The education here is quite different. After I have finished my
final high school year I will need to go through two extremely
important exams: a high school graduation exam and an university
entrance exam. Our universities don't take applications but
rather choose students based on their test score of each
respective major. That's why it requires heavy studying. I need
to start now, there can be no delay.
I hope that this letter will be spread to all the forum members,
namely those who are still posting here. We need a real, active
community, not this current one.

Oh yes, I know that process. Of course, it's not here in the
States but I still know it. You have to study very hard in that
type of education process because you don't get free reign over
what schools you can choose since you can't apply to them. I can
see why you have to take extra allotted time for studies.

Since I may not be here after Monday or so. Can you guys help me
by spreading this topic around? Thank you.

It surely will be lonely around the forum without you and Fox-E
around, well there's nothing wrong about it, you have your own
lives anyway, yet i can't tell how you guys feel about the
changes of the forum since i'm a totally newbie compared to you.
Oh well, it isn't a complete goodbye, so i will just say the
same as always.
see ya, doom :D.
Oh and good luck with your exams.

The secondary purpose of this thread is to 'create' a new group
of active members for our forum from the fanboys. Spread this
letter is much better than saying goodbye because we will still
meet again.

Even if you say this, most people just use the forum for the
reasons already mentioned by you(and Fox-E)
I don't believe we can "make" active people around the forum. It
just happens or not(mostly not).
Oh, and about the stalker thing, besides me i don't know anyone
that would stay long hours loged in the forum doing nothing(and
i only do this when i forget to close the forum, sorry).
And about the active members, only 4?Are you sure about this?

I mean 4 people who are online every single day: Yggdrasil,
Fox-E, Black and me. Black will return in late June or so. I am
not counting you, WsawW or Killa because your online schedule is
quite random.
And like I already said the purpose of this letter is to inspire
people to become active members. That's why I want members who
post here to spread this topic to others, especially those
currently occupying the Bug Masterthread and the Help
Masterthread.

Yeah, I'm not too reliable on being on the forums because I'm
usually always doing something else even if it is TCO related.
Though, I'll try and still spread the word of the forum as I've
been doing in my videos (I always link to the website at the top
of my description). I'd have hoped that would get more people
here but sadly, I'm not sure it has in a significant way.
I'll have to do a better job of that later I guess when I start
getting back to videos and doing other contributions. I suppose
for now I can at least make a link in my signature. Maybe we can
try and put this letter in a more important section though so
more people would see it? The goodbye letter may be off topic
but the other letter pertains more towards the forums.
