What you should know about Off-Topic
By: Blackdoom59 Date: April 6, 2012, 6:45 am
---------------------------------------------------------
Hey
As most of you know , we are under siege by trolls. When the
other moderators see them on important boards (bugs help and
sugestions / information) they instinctively send them to
Off-topic section.Even if what they do is wrong , that is one of
the measures they use for keeping everything clean , considering
Off-topic ..dirty already.
Now , in fear that the trolls will invade off-topic , I hereby
remind the fellow members of TCO forum that Off-Topic is not
TCO's recycle bin and it should not be filled with crap.
Even if Off-topic is the place where you can talk about things
not related to the campaign , that dosen't mean you can talk
about everything , in every part.So here are some things you
should know obout Off-topic board:
-Introduce is ONLY for introductions , talking about oneself and
his preferences. If the preferences fit the preferences of
another member , that dosen't mean you're allowed to create
quote pyramids talking about them. One or two replies are fine ,
but not more.
-Off topic must not contain an excess of disturbing material. We
all use curse words once a time , but it's strictly not allowed
that you post all kind of insults about members of this forum OR
other people that members may enjoy.
-Use proper english. No one can say anything if you misspell
words , but if you do that on purpose , with excess and without
wanting to change , you have nothing to do on Off-topic , or on
this whole forum.
-You are not allowed to create topics about subjects related to
another board just because you are too shy to post your topics
there
-Excessive gossip about members of this forum is not allowed.
-Racism/Sexism is also not welcomed here
-Creating topics instead of replies is not allowed.
The rules affect the whole site INCLUDING this board. If anyone
decides to go trough this list of rules then I(or any other
power capable of doing so) must take action.

We moderators always send 'unwanted' topics to Hell, not
Off-Topic. Please consider changing the content of the main
post.
Also, the English in the main post itself needs some
improvements considering this topic being a 'Rules' one. Correct
punctuation and perfect spelling are recommended.

I think he said the trolls itself, not the topics
created/trolled by them.
I think Black mentioned this because some trolls just talk a lot
of stupid things that doesn't fit with the other sections, so
the moderator "send" him (say smth like "here it isn't a place
to discuss smth like this, go to off-topic if you wanna talk
about useless things) here. Well that is what i've
understood(and i've never seen smth like that).

It took me half an hour to verify the spelling >:(.
And shino is right.Like I said , everyone(not only the global
mods) send the trolls to off topic.

I love how many people here expect that people can just use
perfect English if they want to...
There isn't a tool that will convert gibberish to perfect
English, if someone joins the forum and their English isn't
perfect (but perfectly understandable), would you want them to
just leave?

Not at all, the problem of google translator is the abuse, some
people translate whole texts and the translation is kind
of...lame. To help with grammar and vocabulary it's very useful.
Another thing, i think you have to have some knowledge about the
english language if you really plan to play TCO, understand it
and so, post the something on the forum. Why would i register to
some forum that i can't even understand a word?
My english wasn't good when i started, and it's not even close
to perfect now. Aero's english is even worse than mine, and even
Doom make some mistakes from time to time. We don't want perfect
english, we want understoodable english.
You've misunderstood the situation pretty bad...maybe your
english needs improvement :D?

haha! No I think you have misunderstoof what I meant, I was
mentioning this due to the fact that if someone can understand
english, and can speak good enough english to let others
understand him without much difficulty, then that's good enough
for me. Let him contribute where he will. I don't like seeing
someone being told "learn to speak english" like it's a simple
thing, when in their posts it's pretty clear what they want to
say.
If they spout gibberish then feel free however :)

It's not really that complicated... Seeing as the forum consists
of gamers mostly, they could (and most must have done so
already) just play some games in English (not in their native
language, unless it was English) and bam, you start learning it
since you have the motivation.

Sure it can be done over time
Suggesting politely without insulting is fine with me. But even
then, I don't think anyone should be under any obligation to
learn English just to use the forum. If they are understandable,
let them bray!
