       The Peenemunde Raid by M Middlebrook

       Just finished this excellent book.  Highly recommend.  Here are
       some bits of info I took away from it:
       1. Window was used by all a/c (over 200 bundles per each).
       Maybe if you stray out of the stream (Navigation OFF) you have a
       greater chance of detection?
       2. The bright Full moon was usually avoided by Bomber Command.
       I have read this elsewhere and Greg Smith's Night Fighter Ace
       design has a 1 in 6 chance of no raids during full moon.  Should
       probably be a greater chance and we may want to look at this
       moon event in TfTonight?
       3. Schrage Musik was just coming on line for the Germans.
       According to this book, only two 110's were equipped out of
       Parchim A/F (5th Staffel, NJG5).  This is mid August 43.  They
       were spoofed to Berlin by mosquitos but made it back to
       Peenemunde in time to wreck havoc.  The senior pilot shot down 4
       bombers in 30 minutes w SM.  The other pilot was newer (unusual
       as most senior and ace pilots would get priority) and had never
       seen a bomber at night and never used SM before.  As he was
       getting in position on a Halifax, his top gun sight (for sm
       attack) fell off onto the floor.  He simply flew up right
       underneath and unloaded the cannons and shot it down.  He tried
       to get at another, but was spotted and evasions began.  He
       waited until the bomber settled down and engaged again and
       struck home but the tail gunner also got him (this NF pilot was
       a novice).  For this first time in use by SM (only two NFs) 6
       bombers were destroyed.  The RAF could not figure out what was
       happening (tracerless ammo, unseen from below) and some thought
       the Germans had a device that shot up and exploded--simulating
       an exploding bomber to scare them (Scarecrows).
       Anyways, a great read.

       ect. Very good.
       Everything he has published is a risk-less buy, always excuisite
       research and smooth narrative.
