Hi All, Any Idea

Hi All, sorry for not posting for awhile, very busy xmas here in
New Zealand, then Betio, catching up with family, then back to
NZ, then back to work. Head still spinning. Any ideas if this
pic is part of pic rolls we in the group of the preinvasion. Now
i do remember in 76hours book i read years ago, a member of BCo
( cant remember which Reg ) found two rolls of film. I will be
going over that 76hours book again this weekend to hopefully get
name of the Marine ( which im again sure was given ). Again glad
we still all here.

Certainly looks pre-invasion. Judging from the sweep of the
island(s) in the distance, I would say these are the two twin 5"
(127mm) gun positions on the lagoon shore. The photo is
deceptive, however, in that it is a mirror image. When you look
at the guns, the gun director's protective enclosure that
protrudes from the side should be on the right, and not the
left, as seen in the photo. Thank you so much for posting. I
anxiously await all of your contributions to the history of that
battle.

Mauri ( Hi ) gunny and everybody, hope you are all wel, Al hows
your research into the LVTs. Flick through Lanes 76 Hours (
trying to find name of Marine finding the rolls of film ( or
which reg/company he was in ). Flicking through just dosnt cut
it lol, because it was only a sentence or two from memory, so
will reread whole book again. We have all seen a select few, but
would love to know where they all are. But for our members heres
a few more pre-invasion pics. Note - These are property of
tarawatalk as always book writers/media/researchers please ask
permission, so we can all decide best course.

Thanks for posting, Kim. Certainly looks a lot different with
the palm fronds on the treetops instead of lying on the sand
post battle!
