Assuming this is Red Beach 2. I cant quite make out the name of
the tank. Also note Sadu Maru in the background.

Tide way out. Have not seen this picture. Attaching aerial. I
think with all those tracs out there that this is R-1. Cecilia,
Count and Chicago were over there. Tried to use contrast to see
the name but cannot make it out. Thanks for sharing! Adding to
my picture library.

Imposible to say about the name of the tank. It does have a
recognition feature which is the single stretch of wire around
the center of the turret. I think that CHICAGO had such a wire.
Almost certainly one of those originally disabled at that beach.
Which is definitely RED BEACH ONE. If you look at the far right
of the photo you can see dead Marines hanging in a barbed wire
fence. To the right, behind them, is the nose of an LVT-1 which
in other photos turns out to be IRON MIKE. Definitely RED BEACH
ONE guys.

Hi Gunny, yes totally agree its Red 1. Another photo maybe by
same person in same area, has always made me wonder, " what the
heck "
I know some Maries were told the landing would be a cake walk,
so who thought a game of tennis would be grand.

The man above the tennis racket appears to be a Navy Corpsman.
Also, note the tank tracks in the sand leading to the area of
the original post in this thread.
