I have a Clown Pleco (Panaqolus maccus), they stay really small
(3-4") so adding a few to your tank makes it a good option

nihilis is very correct although i have yet to come accross a
LFS with nitrates under 40ppm lol. well at least in my area lol.
for this reason i drip acclimate all my fish since my nitrates
linger around 10ppm. Nitrate shock is real and commonly
       overlooked.

Personal favorite is the Synodontis Multipunctatus, not sure on
availability in your area. Please note they are not a good idea
if you are intending on breeding your fish. However I have one
in a 5 foot with mouth brooders and as it has no breeding
partner it causes no issues at all.

Royal Plecos are my favorite. Although that Gold nugget looks
       pretty cool.

My two cents.... You know me... I'm an against the grain guy.
I've been keeping fish for over 20 years, when you consider the
fish in my store and fish I've personally kept I've acclimated
tens of thousands of fish. Fish that have been shipped from over
seas or from just down the street and I have NEVER ONCE "drip
acclimated" a fish. I've also never once lost a fish during
       acclimation.
My personal belief is that drip acclimation is another one of
those "over reactions" by fish keepers.
If I'm in a room full of smoke and I can barely breathe do I
want a tiny crack of a window to SLOWLY let fresh air in and
slowly acclimate myself to fresh air again or would I rather get
the heck out of that room and take a nice deep breath of fresh
       air? I'm just sayin.....
I'm not even gonna get into the shift in PH that drip
acclimation can cause in shipping water...

Drip acclimation is really for salt water varieties. Some of the
fish are super sensitive to different salinity levels and water
conditions. I do not do this for fresh water fish. Acclimate in
the bag you bring your fish home in and you will be fine. BUT !
if you buy a 300 dollar salt water fish or ray I would suggest
drip acclimation it might save you some cash and heart ache lol.

very interesting points. I drip acclimate after taking
cyberaquarists advice. He has a good piece on nitrate shock on
youtube and advises to drip acclimate with extreme differences
in nitrate levels. Every so often, (prolly like 1 out of 20) i
would have a fish that didnt pull through the transfer. this is
from LFS and online sales. I have no idea why whether it be
stress or what not, but after following cybers advice, this
never happened to me again. he explains how fish can get used to
high nitrate levels and go into shock if immediately transferred
to a low nitrate environment and vice versa. this may or may not
be true but i do take cybers advice as one that is extremely
credible. I am very interested to hear ideas on this subject.
ps. sorry if the thread got hijacked lol

I have to second this. Taking a fish from your LFS that is
accustomed to nitrate levels over 40 ppm and putting him in a
tank that has anything less than that is not going to be a
       problem.
Not to mention that nitrates are the least concerning
bi-products of the nitrogen cycle. Most mbunas, peacocks, and
haps have a fairly high tolerance for an elevated nitrate level
       for limited periods of time.
The only possible exception I might see would be a fish imported
directly from Africa and shipped to your door. Wild caught fish
have much lower tolerances for waste bi-products than fish that
were raised in a retail sales environment.
But if you are buying a fish from your LFS, there is a very good
chance that it is accustomed to nitrates in the 40 ppm to 60 ppm
range. And putting them in a "cleaner" environment will not
have an adverse effect on the fish at all.
IMPORTANT FOOTNOTE: When I talk about the generic fish
retailer, I am not talking about KGT. I am speaking more about
the big box stores or the mom-and-pop pet stores that have a
"fish section." Specialty shops like KGT (ESPECIALLY KGT) are
far more likely to pay closer attention to things like water
parameters. When you have five kids to feed from your fish
sales, you cannot afford to have too much dead loss.

Great analogy John (smoke in the room). I follow your procedure
outlined in your KG video and everyone has done fine.
