Can you convert from plastic to live?

       Hello, hello,
Just a simple question. We are still building our first tank.
       But had a quick question.
Can you convert from a plastic plant tank to a live tank after
       you have already started?
Or does the gravel and substrate have to be totally different
       from the start?
I'm sure it is easier to just start from the very beginning but
just didn't know if I could convert later on in the same tank.
       Well I appreciate your thoughts.
       Thanks.

It depends on the plant. There are plants that don't need dirt
and can be planted just in gravel. They are common at pet
stores. You'll also most likely need a light that is good for
       growing plants.
