live fish direct

Hey John and Lisa; thanks for all the great online content its
really making getting into the hobby seem more manageable.
I am still in the research phase for my new tank and supplies
so probably a few months away from placing an order for fish.
That being said I watched the you tube videos you have out from
the delivery you got from live fish direct, on that site i
cannot seem to find any large male mbunas and i was wondering
did you get a good ol' boy hook up to get sexed fish from there
or am i just not looking in the right place. In either case
where would you suggest; or discourage that i look to place an
order to set up a 125 all male mbuna tank. Any and all help
anyone can give to a first time fish keeper would be greatly
appreciated.

I've ordered from them a few times and as far as Mbuna's go it's
rare to see them sell adults. It's not to say you can't find
them on there now and then when in stock. From the video that
you are talking about tho, those were peacocks and haps. It's
more common to see listings of different sizes anywhere from 1
inch to fully grown fish. You may have to keep an eye out
though. They are normally only listed when available.

As far as getting all Male Mbuna's I thought I would suggest
getting the Assorted Malawi Mbuna Mix. The last option in their
list at the moment has the option for all males at 3..5 to 4
inches long. It's costly but it is a sure why to end up with
all males only.

Thank you Chas dont know how i missed that option; it's a good
fall back plan if i cant find a way to get my pick of the litter
right off the starting line. I might just go with the smaller
batch and build slowly from there.
