Aquarium Salt

Hello.
I am very new to fish keeping so can anyone give me some advice
on using aquarium salt in the main tank on a permanent basis
with Guppies.
Some people say that salt is a must with Guppies and some say
NEVER use salt in the main tank ....Please please clear this up
for me once and for all, So many conflicting views on this
subject.
I also want to make it clear that I keep up with my maintenance
each week so I'm not looking to skimp on maintenance by adding
salt, I just want to make sure I'm giving the Guppies the best
water conditions.

Hi Silverback,
I believe adding salt won't hurt (depending on how much you put
in) but really isn't necessary.
The most important fact is making sure your adding 'Aquarium'
Salt, not Table salt.
Remember, if you decide to put salt in your tank, always start
with the least amount. You can always add more later.

Thank you for the reply.
I think if it isn't necessary then I shouldn't try it.
Seems to be so many guppy keepers using salt and reporting no
fish loss and very healthy fish .....so confusing.
