I have 2 from each in my tank due to a rescue I did not think
about mixing them at the time they are getting along just fine
but now I want to get more cichlids but i don't know which one I
should get more of central/south or Africans I really like the
       peacocks any thoughts

The mix may be ok for the moment but you may want to consider
moving on the Americans and focus on building a nice peacock
       collection.
It might just be me but I always find that the new world
cichlids stick out like a sore thumb in an African tank.

I would not recommend mixing Central American and African
Cichlids, it may not be a good idea because almost no one knows
how they will react to each other and I am pretty sure in one of
John's videos he also doesn't recommend it although I do not
       remeber his reasons.
