       Mixing Mbunas & Haps

I'm here for probably the same reason everyone else is; and
that's because of John's and Lisa's online presence. They have
greatly contributed to my Cichlid knowledge with their videos
and I'm very appreciative of their hard work and dedication.
I have one question about the mixing of Mbunas, Hap, and
Peacocks that John talks about in one of his videos. He make the
point that it IS possible to mix the three groups as long as you
start them all together and be sure the Mbunas are at a size
       disadvantage.
My questions is this: does this only work if all the species are
males OR would it be possible for breeding colonies of Mbunas to
be mixed with larger male Haps?
Here's my specific situation. I have a 4 foot 90 gallon tank and
would like to start with juvenile groups of the more mellow
Yellow Labs, Acei, and Rusties. Would it be possible to
introduce a little larger male Haps at the same time?
Thanks gang & thank you John and Lisa.

from my own experience. in general haps and peacocks may not
color up fully in a mixed african tank setup. some electric
       blues could work.
not sure how aggressive the mbuna will be when breeding though.

Depending on the size of the Hap, just make sure that the
juveniles can not fit in the hap's mouth.

as above just make sure you pick out the right haps i got fusco
and malawi eye biters that eat smaller cichlids if they are
       giving the chance
