       algae in Tank
By: TexMex Date: February 8, 2015, 10:14 am

So my water in my tank is a green tint to it and it is really
annoying. Be honest I have never had this happen and I don't
know what to do. I have a Green Killing Machine with a 24w UV
and a Aquatop with a 9w UV in the canister. I am thinking that
the UV's are going out. I really want to get this fix any help
       would be green.

       Hi Tex,
Most important.. an algae bloom won't hurt your fish.
       Possible things to check:
       Direct Sunlight/too much light
Your UV's may not be able to combat the microscopic algae bloom
due to too much light/or direct sunlight.
       Nutrients
Are you over feeding? This causes your fish to produce more
waist thus giving that darn ol'algae more food to consume and
       multiply.
Save your money and leave the chemicals on the shelf. A couple
of nice size water changes, reduced feeding and lighting
reduction should clear things up to where your UV's will tackle
the rest. Might also be a good time to change that filter pad
       too.
       Good luck!
       Paul

       Hey Tex,
How is your tank doing? Did you do any other changes more than
       the UV filters?
       Have you tried Nualgi? =)

I just started using Nualgi last week. Too soon to tell, but
with the days slowly getting longer, and the sun's angle
changing, my tank gets a bit of direct sunlight now.
This might be an additional help for you Tex, and thanks to John
you can get a discount. Click the rotating banner at the top of

Welll I adjusted the timers on the lights, and it has help with
the algae in the tank. I don't know what Nualgi is, I will have
       to look into that.
