hey guys. I know there are many ways to get clean water for
water changes. But i had some friends tell me that I can just
put some declorinator in a tap water and let it sit for 24
hours. Is this is a good idea?

No you need to do a water change to take out all the nitrates
and to but freshwater in the tank. The fish will be more healthy
       that way. That's my opinion

I get the tap water to near tank temperature and add it to the
tank along with the dechlorinator. I never waited a day.

What are you trying to remove by "cleaning"?
If it's just chlorine, you friend is correct in just using
de-chlorinator. But I agree with Gary you don't need to let it
       sit over night.
What size is your tank? What kinda of filtration? What kind of
fish? Do you have a heater? What's the climate like in your
       area?
