       Intro to Duck4cvr =)

       Hey Guys,
I just want to say thanks John, your enthusiasm is infectious.
Have you ever considered going into radio? My wife and I think
you good energy, good voice and everyday guy attitude.
I live in So- Cal. I'm one of those guys that over researches
and pays a lot of attention to details, but at the end of the
day sometimes move on a whim. I frustrate my wife a lot lol.
I've had a 10 gallon tank with a neon tetras, Juli cats, and a
betta for a couple years. And everyone thought it was clean!
on several occasions someone has commented that they would drink
the water. But I've quickly realized that African Cichlids are
a very different animal. LOL I'm just starting with these guy,
so if I ask a stupid question please forgive me.
I fell in love with African Cichlids at a LFS. And I literally
said "one day I'd like to have saltwater aquarium" and boom the
fish guy said "those aren't saltwater, they are just very
aggressive and need a big tank." John your videos are what made
me want to pull the trigger.
I have a 55 gallon, with 16 mixed African Cichlids: mbunas,
peacocks, and haps. I'll eventually put more in, I'm just
making sure my tank is stable before and I'm also being more
selective. I'm filtering with two Sun Sun Canister filters, and
a sponge filter which I'm cycling for emergency. My cousin and
I built the stand.(we might be starting a side job furniture
business, let me know what you think). I painted the background
black. I used slate tile and travertine tile to decorate. My
sand is a mix of Petco white sand and Caribsea Aragonite.
Here's a link to some pictures of the setup. I'll post more,
but I'll wait til night to avoid glare.

Welcome to the forum. Tank looks nice but do you need a step
       ladder to work on it?

I can watch my mbuna nicely from my Lazy Boy but the top is
chest level standing by it. I bought it used as I had been out
of the hobby almost 20 years.

       Thanks Paul.
It's our own design. We planned ahead and had a little bit of
winging it. It was a fun project.
