Mixing Cichlid and Discus?

Hey everyone I'm new to this forum and I know the basics but not
enough to call myself a pro at keeping cichlids . So I am moving
to a new house soon after years of living in a cramped flat and
my cichlid has grown massive in the past 2 years. I was
thinking since of their color and their unique shapes and size I
was gonna order a custom tank to give an illusion of them being
salt water fishes. This video will show you what I have in mind,
minus the floating bits.

But I also love discus and they also remind me of a few sea
water fishes because of their color, so I was wondering if there
is any way I can mix these two species together? In terms of
space, how many gallons am I looking at?

I think the Discus would be pestered to death in a week. And
discus need low ph and soft water, opposite of Africans

I would say no given the temperamental differences of the two
fish groups and because of the water parameters of Discus
(slightly acidic water) and African cichlids (more alkaline pH).
However, John Hudson has mentioned a customer who mixed them
together and they are reportedly fine in the same tank. I would
not mix them. Cool tank by the way.

Like Dean mentioned it has been done but that was possibly more
by luck than judgement. At the end of the day you can try it but
I would recommend having a back up plan if things go south.

Everyone who has answered you so far has done a really nice job
of trying to be nice about this but what they really wana say is
NNOOOOOOOOO!!!!! lol. I'm just having some fun here.
This is one of those instances where common sense has to take
priority over anything else. Discus are sweet, innocent little
lolly pops and African Cichlids are hot headed little trouble
makers that are out there looking for the next fish they can
push around. Discus thrive in a much different type of water the
Africans do. Just play it safe and don't do it. OR just buy
another tank :o :o
