Do I need an air pump??

OK so I have a top edge filter....good amount of movement across
top of tank. I have an internal filter...good current running
mid tank. My water is super clear. The internal filter has a
tube running into the output, that could be hooked up to a air
pump for bubbles. So long story, short question: Do African
       Cichlids prefer/need bubbles?

make sure you have surface movement and you won't require a air
pump. by surface movement, i mean visible water movement. A sign
of not enough water movement is you will discover a film on top
of the water. If you notice that then you don't have enough
       surface movement.
I don't have one on my 55g and have no problems with my fish.

The only reasons I could think of to even put one in there is
either A: you are running unusually heavily stocked, or B: you
want to give them something to play with. I've heard several
people say their Africans love to play with the bubbles, but I
don't know the truth of it.

I dont think you need air pump if you have enough water movement
       in the tank :D

I have a corner tank that probably would benefit from the likes
of an air pump although I decided to use a wave maker instead to
keep the water circulating. It creates a nice current around the
tank. A powerhead would do a similar job.
