Hi petsotics,
I believe me and you will get along like wildfire! I love the
livebearers, (Mollies, Platies, Swordtails and Show quality
Guppies), within the next few years I hope to conduct more
"study's" of the Guppies in general, breeding mainly. Hopefully
I will write a 'How To Guide' to get the best quality Show
Guppies from the brood. Some study's have already been made but
I would like to conduct my own study's as I have not been
successful with their methods, so for me I would class there
study's as blueprints for mine, once I have some nice finding's
I will be more than happy to share my knowledge as this will
help others and hopefully will let others carry on from were I
stop to make my findings much better and productive!
Thanks James

I love my livebearers, but I have to say that for me the
mollies, especially the wild species, are my absolute favorites.
I'm weird, I like having mollies nibble on my fingers. And ..
they love to nibble.
James, I think we'll get along great too! I've tried show
guppies, but didn't have the set up to do the things I really
wanted to do, so I set them aside until I can get moved and I
can set up a new fish room the way I want it. I've been
dabbling around with some domestic mollies trying to gain a
better understanding of how to manipulate the genetics for both
color and fin/body form. I tried that with bettas as well, but
... jars, I hate jars and having one spawn requiring so much
preparation and work. Mollies are such easy keepers and good
spawners.
I also have a real thing for the bottom dwellers - plecos, corry
cats and ... the khuli loach ... are some of my favorites there.
I don't think a community tank is complete without a few cute,
sneaky little khuli's in it.
And the other thing I love, isn't a fish, but I love my mystery
snails lol! It's fun to mess around with their color genetics
as well.

Oh and John, I have to agree with you on the Boesemani Rainbow's
and .. a few of the barb species. I need more hours in the day,
more funds in the bank and a much, much larger fish room to be
able to keep everything I'd like to keep.

Rainbows are nice too. I like the Boesemani and the Praecox
Rainbows. But I still say Mollies, Platies, and Swordtails. They
come in a variety of colors and shapes as well, and are pretty
easy to breed. 8)

I like my good old Tiger Barbs. Always up to something, never a
dull moment with those lot about. Other than that, I like many
of the various sharks, some of which may lead to a slightly more
dysfunctional community, and plecos out there. Plus, good call
on the Denison Barbs, by the big man. Would love to get some of
those one day, they are definitely on THE list.

@Stu4648, I've got to agree with you here friend. Tiger Barbs
have always been my favorite of the fish I've kept. Close
second has to go to my large school of Dwarf Rasbora's (Diano
erythromicron)

@Stu4648 Currently I don't have any :'(
I had a 75 gallon tank with 30 Tiger barbs that we lost in a
house fire. I was more upset over the loss of my fish than
anything else.
Today however, I'm working on (just started last week actually)
my first (Dustin inspired) planted tank. And of course it's
going to house my missing Tiger barbs, and have a 'Tiger' theme.

Pic thru high humity tank starting my ground cover plants. Dark
river bed will be filled with actual Tiger's eye stone sand/mini
gravel.
