True story time... Bought a super nice custom 240 glass monster
last June. It sat in John's workshop through the summer while
he built a custom stand for it. Finally cane time to move it,
and I took a buddy who looks more like an adult orangutan up to
KG to help me load it. John had one other helper on his end.
We managed to get the stand and tank in John's truck and back to
my place, where I had a coworker waiting to help unload. Stand
got moved in with only minor dings and scratches. Then the
three of us tried to move the tank. The orangutan got one end,
and me and the coworker got the other. Coworker gave out and
dropped his corner in my garage. 500 pounds of 3/4" glass
exploded like an M-80. $1,900 down the tubes.
Replaced it with an acrylic 180, which I am plumbing as we
speak. It's a much sleeker tank. Invisible seems. Best of all
it weighs less than 200 pounds. Two of us moved it in without
even trying.

Regarding scratches, unless the scratches are deep, any
headlight restoration kit you buy at Auto Zone will work.

125, i prefer glass. For obvious reasons, weight being the most
important. Ive refinished acrylic tanks and its not hard at all
so the scratching doesnt bother me.

Very nice! How exactly did you refinish the acrylic? :)
Might be worth buying used if its able to be refinished somehow
to smooth out the scratches! ;D
[/quote]
pretty simple process if you do some handy work at home. In my
area, going rate is $1 per gallon to refinish. I got tired of
that so i did some youtube research. in short, process includes
wet sanding. i did 800 all the way up to 3000 with a palm sander
and a spray bottle. I then finished with novus 2 and 3 with an
orbital buffer. a ton of youtube vids buddy. hope this helps

Ok awesome! Thanks for the help! :D

:o Ouch, that hurts just reading :(. I'm glad you were able to
replace the tank though!
The weight of acrylic is just so appealing :D. Thanks for
sharing!
