       Freshwater moray eel (G.Tile)

First off i know that these are not freshwater but need a
salinity of at least .010. I am interested in getting one, but i
know that the lfs keeps them in straight freshwater, so my
question is, if i get one should i put it in straight freshwater
and slowly acclimate it to saltwater, or would it be ok to put
it in a tank with water at a salinity that is around .010 right
away, if not how long should it take to acclimate them to a
       higher salinity. thanks

       Great question.
Have you confirmed with the LFS they're using straight
       freshwater?
Personally, I can't answer your question - but I wonder why you
would buy a 'brackish' fish/eel from a store that doesn't keep
       him in the proper conditions.
       Red Flag in my opinion.
Best of luck to you, would enjoy seeing a quick video/photo if
you decide to make the purchase.

yeah it is in just normal fresh water (when they have them in
stock they keep them with the goldfish, they do the same thing
with the puffers),i would have to get it from them because they
are the only pet store around where i live, it is a big box
store (Pet Supermarket) that doesn't know what they are doing
really. But if I do get one I would get it the day they get
their shipment in so it wouldn't be in their tank long.

if you get your fish the day they get shipment and put in their
tank your fish will be stressed more
I wait at least 1 week before I get my fish to reduce stress ;)

Do you have the ability to set up a quarantine tank? If so you
could set one up first, get it stable, and then bring the animal
home the day it ships. Put it in there.

I have a tank setup and running right now, that has been cycling
for the past 3 weeks, that I will be putting it in, I was just
wondering about the salt levels. But thanks for the suggestions
;D . it will start out in a 40 gallon sand bottom tank with
some live rock and I am planning on moving it to a bigger tank
       when he gets bigger.
