My tanks

Hello everyone. Here's a picture of my 75, with a mix of
africans and south american(red devil). I got most of these
fish along with the tank from the previous owner. It needed a
lid, light, PROPER filter, etc. As you can see I have an african
sword(2 now, new one not shown) in there that are doing pretty
well to help absorb nitrates. These seem to be pretty hardy
with cichlids, but they do get some leaves chewed a bit.

Here is a 125 we recently bought with the stand and light but
the stand has a large gap in the middle and doesn't support the
tank properly. So we will be getting a new stand and creating
our community tank with this some time next year. That nice
piece of drift wood I got for a whole $14 at a local fish
auction.

Nice, I am guessing the biggest flower pot is for the Red Devil.
Like the background.

Thanks. Yeah the red devil pretty much owns the large pot.
It's not the typical decoration for a cichlid tank, but they
seem to like it. I got rid of the big ugly fake coral thing
shown in this picture that I inherited and put a large african
sword in it's place.
I'll have to fix up the background when I get a better stand.
It came with an old wooden tv stand that works which I used for
now, but I placed it too close to the wall to get the background
situated properly. Once I replace that stand(and drain much of
the water) I'll fix it up better. Plus I need to level the tank
since as you can see it's off a bit.

I have eartheaters in one of my tanks, they pretty much do the
aquascaping for you. You can try and put the sand where you want
it but if they do not like it they'll shift it back.

I want to get a new tank when I see others buying
Its never enough ;D
Aren't red devils aggressive I have heard that they should only
be kept with their own species or alone

They can be aggressive, yeah. I think it's a male, but with
the other fish I have in the tank now it's not much of a
problem. He is the boss of the tank though.

oh
I didn't buy him cause I read he will be super aggressive but
with some species even if from same species their traits may be
different :D

I got most of the fish with the tank since I took over someone
else's setup. If I had started from scratch I probably wouldn't
have bought a red devil due to not wanting the potential for
fighting etc. But following the general advice for cichlids of
having hiding spots seems to work for me. I'm fairly low on the
number of fish compared to some people. I only have 6 fish right
now, so the over stocking to control aggression isn't something
I've tried yet.

It could be. I wasn't sure I wanted to go all cichlids because
in my previous tank I had all community fish and I want to keep
plants and schooling fish as well. I thought maybe I will just
keep the number of fish low and transition the tank over to a
community tank as the cichlids eventually pass on. Now I
picked up this other tank so I can have both types of tanks.
I'll be going full into cichlids with this 75 now because I do
love all the different colours etc.
