Hey guys! Looking to purchase an fx6 in the next few days,
looking to find out the good & bad points with this filter? I'd
       appreciate all your thoughts.

Unless you have Filter Media already you will need to buy alot
more. I just bought mine and I put 2L of Seachem Matrix and a
bag of Bio Balls. It only comes with 2 small bags of ceramic
rings. Other then that IT IS AWESOME!!!!

The main complaint I have heard is that people think that the
motor is not particularly well protected from the media in the
media baskets. It certainly wouldn't stop me buying one, just
put a foam layer or polishing pad in there and it should stop
any debris. I have never had a problem with biomax or anything
similar disintegrating and damaging the motor of a filter anyway
so do not know how realistic a problem or cause for concern that
should be. I would definitely get one if I was getting a proper
big tank such as my planned 180 gallon at some point in the near
       future.
If you have been going through the whole Fluval vs Eheim thing
as I did a while back the clincher for me was this. A Fluval FX6
uses 41W of power compared to the Eheim 2262 at 80W, so that is
a definite long term advantage of going with the Fluval.

The Fx6 is a workhorse, you won't regret the purchase. Mine has
been running for a month now on my 110 gallon AC tank, no
complaints at all...It does have LOADS of room for media, I'd
suggest Pond Matrix over the regular, only cuz there's room to
do so and it has more surface area...I actually scored mine on
Amazon and it came with extra outer foam replacements, extra
polishing pads, and extra black bio sponges...

Definitely man, I went with that one cuz the extras. (every
other one on Amazon was roughly the same price). Mine is backed
up by a Hydor Pro 600, which is great too, but won't hijack a
       thread about it... ;D

I have a Aqua top CF 400 UV and a Sunsun HW 304B to go with my
Fluval, the Aquatop and Sunsun are great canister filters for
the value and have UV sterilizers in them.
