after many years keeping salt water fish I have decided to go
the African Cichlid route.
The tank is a Seaclear acryclic 72x24x24. for filtration I
picked 2 Fluval FX6 canisters, and a Tunze 6208 wave box, and 2
Marineland 36 inch blue/white led lighting strips.I also have 2
questions 1 The wave box is rated for up to 210 gallons, do you
think I should add power heads or is this over kill? 2 what type
of of substrate should I put in sand or crushed coral I might
add this tank will hold mutiple species of African Cichlids?
please let me know what you think of this up coming set up.
Regards,
Don

Sounds like your off to a great start, can't wait to see some
pictures of your new tank.
I think your wave maker would be plenty strong enough, after all
one of your goals is to push waste towards your filter intakes,
not toss the fish around. :D
As for sand or crushed coral, check this video out and see what
John has used and why:

Good luck to you on your new tank!!

In my opinion your flow will be fine dont forget the 2 FX6's are
going to be making loads of flow on there own. I have a 6 x 2 x
2 with 2 FX6's & 2 Jebao Wp10's set on wave and I have loads of
flow. I'd go for crushed coral a mix of 1mm & 3mm, the lights
you are going to fit are down to your preference sounds like
yours are designed for marine so will be bright if that was me I
go and see if you can get LED strips for planted tanks which are
multi spectrum units so it'll bring out the colours of the fish
not wash them out or you could go back to the good old faithful
T5's listed for tropical.
Have fun setting your tank up and enjoy ;D
