The fish are doing fine :-) the gourami have the same ability as
the beta fish ..if the water is bad they take in air from the
surface. I have cycled 4 tanks with this pair :-) they are my
cycling crew lol. They are very good at it:-)

Finally added my fish water is livable for my africans and I
finally rounded up some nice rocks to add for my rock dwelling
friends. YAY! Will be ordering the african cichlid sand next. I
hear that the sand specific to africans is the best so that's my
next plan of action ;-) All is going well with my new 160 ;-)

I just use sand, a lot cheaper than african cichlid substrate. A
little aquarium salt, epson salt and bicarbonate of soda and you
can match the lake water
