"What is it, Armani?" Altara asked, a shiver down her spine as
she asked

"Princess, I think we should hold the coronation today. While
your father is still well enough to witness it." Armani said.

Altara frowned "That goes against tradition, Armani"

"I know, Princess. But I don't ask without good reason," Armani
explained, taking out the watch Tempora had given him for Altara
to see.
"...The Goddess Tempora appeared to me. She warned me something
terrible is going to happen tomorrow if you aren't crowned."
WHAT?! Floriana paled, grateful she was still invisible. ARMANI
knew? Had someone talked? Was she not the only one having second
thoughts?

"W-we barely even know if the goddess of time is real. Her
following is minimal" Altara insisted
"And my father is still alive. As long as he lives, he is king"

"She is very real, your highness, and I believe ignoring this
warning is putting your life in danger." Armani said, trying not
to sound desperate.
"You agree with Armani, Olivia?" Claudia asked, glancing at her.

Olivia nodded "it's not in Armani's character to lie. We all
know this"

"I suppose not...but...a nearly forgotten goddess manifesting to
give him a warning?" Claudia frowned.
"What I don't understand is why it matters that the coronation
happens today instead of tomorrow."
"Because tomorrow Malkos is going to take the throne for
himself." Armani did not hold back the words; he'd hesitated and
tried indirect routes. This time, he was going to put his trust
in the truth, and hope it could undo Malkos's scheme.

"The head of the guard? Why would he target me and not my
father?" Altara insisted

Armani lowered his head. Time and again, he seemed to be the
bearer of this news...perhaps fate having some jape at his
expense.
"Your father's strength is all but spent, princess. He will not
see nightfall," he said softly. Even after so many cycles, the
words still hurt to say.
Claudia felt a strange lurch within herself, as though Armani
was repeating something she herself had thought...but she hadn't
thought such a thing! She hadn't dared to even let herself think
of how long the king might have left...
