       The Bird At Bay

Helena opened her eyes in her cell, staring up at the ceiling
after a long, quiet doze. She studied the stones of her cell's
ceiling and touched her stomach, as if curious to feel if it was
       all still there.
"So you can die in your dreams. How curious," she said to nobody
in particular, before standing up and moving closer to the bars.
She had been left alone for months, but something told her that
ended today. Something was coming, but she didn't know what.

Normally this was the moment that Kagero came out to visit
Helena, but this time Arvic came to visit the Butcher, although
he looked more pale than usual.
"Im...Im here to get you your meals as per General Malkos's
       request...."

"You are?" Helena felt a disappointment she had trouble putting
       into words.
"How unusual. He has done no such thing since putting me here."

"I...don't understand it either. He said he was going to
personally talk to the priestess who was supposed to bring your
food...." Arvic muttered "So here I am"

"A priestess has not brought me food before today, either."
       Helena said, her eyes narrowing.

Arvic blinked in surprise "Really? That's just what General
       Malkos told me"

"Well, perhaps he was misinformed." Helena shrugged, seeming to
lose interest. She glanced at the food.
"I can't eat that if you stand all the way over there, you
       know."

"..." Arvic took a step forward and said "I cannot open the door
so I will pass the food through the bars. Ok?"

"I am unarmed. You have a sword. Are you truly so worried?"
       Helena asked, cocking her head.

       frowned.
