"She killed a guard to get them. I doubt she would even qualify
as a priest anymore in the afterlife"

said, gritting his teeth as the impasse wore on and trying to
knock Olivia off her balance with broader swings.
"You could got a lot further with Malko than the princess will
ever raise you. You have to know that!"

laws." Helena said. She looked at the keys, then back at Malko.
"With or without those keys, I will get out of this cell. When I
do, I will cut out your heart and show it to you."

we fought" Malkos responded calmly, turning to leave the room.

"That can be arranged!" Grieger growled, bringing down his axe
in a two-handed heavy swing that shattered parts of the floor.
Shrapnel flew up in a cloud, obscuring Grieger's next angle of
attack for a moment.

"You are a stepping stone. Killing you is one of the great
obstacles I was born to be tried against." Helena said, watching
him go.
"But even if you weren't. Even if I would take no pleasure in
it. Even if there is no goal to advance. I would kill you
anyway." Helena sat down.
"It is a promise, not a threat. We will fight again, Sir Malko.
And you will lose."

Blood dripped from the cracked armor as Olivia grunted "D-damn
it"

"Shame. You were doing real well up until then." Grieger said,
going for a deadly swing.
Armani slammed into his side, and Grieger gasped as Armani's
sword slid through a gap in his armor.
"Urk!"
"Sorry, Grieger," Armani muttered, pushing his former comrade
off the blade. Grieger staggered away, holding his side.
"You...son of a bitch..." he coughed, slipping and falling to
the ground.

Claudia was waiting in the throne room, fully armed and with her
sword and shield out.
"Have you lost your mind, Malkos?"
Given how her sword was blooded, it was clear enough Claudia had
not been confused for long about what was going on.

"Olivia!" Armani rushed to her side, letting Greiger bleed out
not far away.
"No, no, no, you can't die...hold on..."

"Not a chance, Malkos. You may have spat on your duty, but I'm a
knight to the end." Claudia said grimly.
When she'd understood what had happened, she'd ordered the few
people around she could trust to help the princess escape. Even
if she couldn't kill Malkos here, and she certainly meant to
try...
She would slow him down.
