"Already?" Armani muttered, paling as he drew his sword.
He'd hoped his defenses would at least stymie Malko long enough
for the rest of the castle to become alert to its danger, but he
was still practically alone as Grieger and the others began
pouring inside.

Malkos didnt even pay heed to Armani as he walked inside.
Near the front gate, Olivia had drawn her sword, surprised to
see her former companions
"What is the meaning of this?!"

"Hey, Olive." Grieger said, shouldering his axe as several armed
knights turned to face Olivia.
"Put the sword away, yeah? Not much point to getting involved
this late."

"What do you think you're doing, Grieger?!" Olivia spat out,
looking curious.
"This is treason!"

"The funny thing about treason is that it depends on who's the
legitimate authority in a conflict." Grieger said, and his grin
suddenly seemed all the more unpleasant.
"Now, traditional wisdom is that the queen is always the legit
authority, but I'm willing to bet in the next half an hour it's
going to turn out a tiara and a name are a lot less authority
than an army at your back. Malko is the king already. Some
people just don't know it yet. By the end of the day, you and
Armani will be the traitors, not me."

"!" Olivia gritted her teeth. "Damn you, Grieger!" as she lunged
at the man.

Kagero meanwhile was in corridor when Arvic spotted her. Kagero
blinked in surprise "Hello, Mr. Knight."
Clearly uncomfortable with attacking a priestess, but it was a
coup...
After a long moment of hesitation, Arvic roared and took a slash
at Kagero injuring her chest in surprise
"!" Kagero avoided a fatal blow but was hurt bad as she grabbed
her spear. "W-What is this?!"
"I-Im sorry. Oh gods, forgive me!" as Arvic took another swing
at Kagero.
Kagero barely dodged but took a cut to the cheek. She went to
try and disarm Arvic in response, but his armor was too thick.
"!"
Arvic hit Kagero on the head with the side of his blade as she
fell down and the knight muttered "Please....lets end this
quickly."
He went to deliver the final blow but Kagero kicked Arvic in the
groin in the last moment, causing him to flinch.
And in a desperate additional moment, stabbed him in the neck
with her spear
Color drained from Kagero's neck as quickly as it drained from
Arvic's, having never taken a life before. She noticed the jail
keys that Arvic held and muttered quietly to herself
"Helena....S-She can help us.....I need to get to Helena..." as
she rushed to the dungeon entrance.

Grieger laughed as he blocked the blow with his axe, leaning in
to push back against Olivia's sword.
"You know, I always liked you, Olivia, but I was curious if that
fancy swordplay of yours would win against my axe if it came to
a serious fight. If you don't wanna keep your head down and
live, we might as well find out, eh?"

Helena was awake and alert as the sounds of combat had begun to
fill the castle. Her guards were once again absent, this time
either dead in the confusion or already on Malko's side, but she
was pressed against the bars with an intensity she had not
previously possessed. Her eyes fixed on Kagero when she entered.
"Are you here to let me out, little miss?"

"I'm not losing to a lazy traitor like you" Olivia growled,
going to kick him in the chest during their standstill.

"Y-Yes! Helena, you have to he-" Kagero called from the entrance
of the doorway but froze as she realized a blade just pierced
her chest.
"That one can't be allowed out. Not until the fighting is over"
Malkos responded calmly.
"Please understand" as he took his sword out; Kagero falling to
the ground.

"We'll see about that." Grieger laughed, leaning back into the
kick; it pushed him back, but he used the distance to swing his
axe.
For all his laziness, Grieger's strength with an axe in his
hands had never been in question.

"!" Helena watched Kagero fall, her eyes turning dark and cold
as they focused on Malkos.
"She was a noncombatant," she hissed.

Olivia's armor saved her from a slash to the chest she she
countered with a lunge at Grieger.

"She killed a guard. Shes now a combatant." Malkos responded
calmly.
"Don't look at me so, Butcher Bird. Unlike you, I would take no
joy in killing a priestess."
