How to use this forum

This forum has been created to provide a means for people to
list duties that they wish to swap, as a replacement for the
company email group system. If two people find duties on here
that they would like to swap, this can be requested using Trip
Trades on AIMS. Information about Trip Trades can be found in
the Documents/Crew IT Systems section on the intranet, and
copies of the documents have been placed in this forum
HTML http://swapboard.createaforum.com/how-to-use-this-forum/trip-trades-information.<br
/>Please remember that any swaps remain subject to all flight ti
me
limitations and rostering agreements, and manual overrides
cannot be applied!
How it works - guests
Topics (forum discussion threads) will be created for each rank
and each day, in advance of roster publication. To request a
swap, add the details of the duty you wish to swap as a reply to
the relevant topic. The topics can can be accessed through the
forum Calendar, or through the board hierarchy. If it is a
multiple day duty, put the details in the topic for the first
day of the duty. If you are using this as a guest user, you will
need to include details in your post which will allow people to
identify you - for example, an email address. Note that the
threads are VISIBLE TO THE PUBLIC; not registering to use this
forum is less secure than registering.
If you successfully manage to swap a duty, it would be helpful
to delete the details of your duty from the topic.
How it works - registered users
Registering is simple. You can register as a user either with an
email address or using a social media account. Your profile
includes the option to specify your base, rank, AIMS number and
any roster preferences, and it is only visible to other
registered users. This means that other registered users can
check your profile to obtain these details, and less personal
information need be included in posts. An additional benefit of
being a registered user is that it is possible to be notified of
new posts for a particular topic - if you are interested in
swapping a duty on a specific day, this feature will let you
know when other people are also trying to swap their duty.
The process of submitting a swap request is otherwise the same
as that given for guests above.
Thanks!
Update 13 September 2017
As most people are using a Facebook group to post swap requests,
the level of use here is lower than envisaged when it was set
up. Adding a post for every day is serving to make people's
requests less visible, rather than helping organise them.
Therefore, for swaps from October onwards, I'll not create a
post for each day. There will still be sticky posts for the
LIN/MAD/INV nightstop requests.
People's own posts can still be linked to days on the calendar,
by clicking on the day in the calendar view rather than creating
a new post from within the forum. However, the number of
requests is low enough currently that individual posts are
likely to be pretty visible in the index view.
