       Forum Growth

Just curious to know, but how many of you are happy with your
Forum's growth? Are you seeing an increase in membership
registrations by promoting here? Google searchers? Are your
current members actively posting? Does your site have a lot of
content before you started promoting it? Does it have a lot of
       content after the fact?
I ask this because for most of the links I have clicked on in
Advertise Your Forum, the bulk of them are dead and abandoned
from what I see, with barely any content at all. And if these
Forums are in fact still active, how can you promote your site
with no content? If there isn't any content, can you really
expect people to join your site or even care?
I'm just trying to figure out the mindset of how people go about
getting their Forum name out there. What works and what doesn't.
Feel free to address here and maybe add some useful information
one way or the other. I too have a lot to learn. That much is
       true.

One of the best and most organic ways to advertise your site
would be on Google, Bing, Yahoo etc through SEO methods
(keywords, meta descriptions etc, but for some reason this
doesnt seem to be of any importance to the developer. If you
cant optimize your site on the internet, you really stand a very
       small chance of being successful.

Search engines play a big role to bringing new members in. It's
up to the owner of the forum to create quality content and
discussion while individually inviting people in.

Im with you on the quality content part. All websites require
fresh quality content for them to be successful, SEO allows the
masses to discover your forum via search engines which is
essential in being successful. Yes finding people individually
is also good practice along with several other ways but search
engines is by far the best way to grow any website.
I had to create a home page outside of smf for me to seo
properly just so it would stand a chance on the net, and so far
       seems to be working.

Inviting people in during your early forum days is essential.
They create content so when someone types "how to......" the
content your users create appear then attracts new members

For me, creating a fb page for the forum and advertizing the
page does the trick. When members like the page, they'll be
constantly updated on what's going on in the forum..
       Works for me:)
