Password question

I'm new here so please excuse my ignorance. How do I invite
members to my board? And when they are invited, do they make up
their own passwords and user names?
I can't figure out if I'm supposed to give them a password and
register them or if I can invite them (how?) and let them come
up with the password. It's a bit confusing. It's a private board
for members of a group only. So I'm not really sure how this
works. :-[

Send people a lnk to you your forum via email, social networks
or worth of mouth.
When people come to your forum they click the register link in
the menu to signup for an account
Or you can register people under Admin -> Registration
